Yes, your mother is the royal. Your father is technically the reigning Regent until you are of age, when you will inherit the throne.

And in this world, they put less stress on who you marry, as long as you marry someone and continue the bloodline, which is typically tracked through the mother. Most royalty marry either other royals or nobles at least, but outliers do happen. So a commoner marrying royalty isn’t extremely popular, but it does happen.

For day 9 of ink/drawtober I had to draw what was in Adaran’s bag. So overall I’ve got his bag itself, some money, some rations, 3 health potions, darts, spare clothes, water, his pedigree of nobility, a flute and some boots in case he actually has to put shoes on (like through snow and sand).

I'm fascinated by the premise! Do we have any other family besides our brother, father and (missing) mother?

Your father has... relations.... with Mirien, his ‘consort’, which is where your brother comes from. He is technically not of the royal line, but depending on your choices, you can choose to see him as your real brother or not.

Mirien herself is a quiet lady who keeps to herself, and is very protective of her son. And maybe of you too....

You have an aunt somewhere in the castle, your mother’s sister, but you don’t encounter her very much. And your father’s family lives outside the castle, but he shunned them when he married into royalty.

What does Mirien look like and does she have feelings for our father or is she trying to just secure her position so to speak?

Mirien is a rather pale woman, on the plump side, rather huggable, like a mother should be. But she has this air about her, maintaining her dignity no matter what, and seems to glide wherever she goes. She has dark blonde hair, usually tumbling down her back, but in times of stress, keeps it up in a bun.

Mirien at one time loved your father. But 6 years is a long enough time to lose that. Now she is just trying to protect her son in the best position she can think of: right beside the madman who caused all the problems.

Okay I’m insanely happy with how Day 10 of ink/drawtober has gone for me. I’ve never drawn anything like this before and I really like how it came out! The prompt was “Walking in the forest”.

Day 8 of ink/drawtober I decided to be a bit dark. The reason Adaran has become an adventurer is to find out what happened to his family. So I drew his family’s crypt. They’re missing presumed dead.
