ADHD hyperfixation award!
ADHD people would be immune to mundi reading. I mean, how can anyone read what I am thinking when not even I amo sure what I amo thinking about?
Mind Reader:tryes to read my mind.
My ADHD brain:"good luck with that buddy, tell me if you can male head or tail of this stuff and could you please tell me what are the three+ songs that somehow merged and are repeating on loop and maybe what story plot I am fantacizing about and what was I supposed to be doing and what am I saying in his conversation 'cause I forgot and do you think perwinke Is more Red or purple and....?"
Mind Reader:starts screaming.
Random thought, and I know that the term "ADHD superpower" has complicated connotations, but bear with me:
My ADHD superpower is being able to give really good and specific compliments.
For one thing, just at the surface level my ADHD makes me really observant of a lot, and my Autism doesn't like change so I've got like a double whammy of observing changes. When someone gets a good haircut or does their eyeliner a little different I'll probably be able to compliment them on that.
But also, my ADHD hyperfixations have made me a jack of all trades but a master of none. My painting phase really only resulted in my having a bare bones understanding of how to hold a brush, but my devoting myself to it for a short amount of time means that I can compliment an artist not just on "it looks pretty" but "I can see how you used the strokes in this direction to create the depth! That's really cool!"
My slight understanding of a lot of sciences (because I hopped from science to science for years before figuring out what I liked to research best) means that when someone who really loves that science talks to me about it, I have no idea the complexities that they're talking about, but I can help them springboard with the right questions. "So does your research also extend in this way? That's amazing! Tell me more about the gills of these mushrooms"
I just... Everyone has every love language I know, but I really really resonate with words of affirmation, and I love being able to not just say "that's so pretty" or "that's so cool" but to be able to articulate what about it is pretty or cool. It means I get to love on people in a more specific way and that helps them feel seen and I love doing that.
NT people thinking ADHD is a super power clearly haven't had a meltdown because they couldn't learn something fast enough and kept messing up.
Will never forget the breakdowns I had over my keyboard. I broke the keys once because of how upset I was with myself
