Be cognizant of this. Sometimes, people may tell you that they care about you and that its okay for you to express your needs to them. The part they don't tell you is that it is fine for you to express those needs so long as those don't require them to adjust something that they are doing that is hurting you.

If they are guilting you for bringing their behavior to their attention, they don't respect you.
