“ Long before any of the nations came into existence, people were scattered across the lands living in rural villages. Though occasionally there were conflicts, people tended to live peaceful lives. There were even a handful of people who were skilled in drawing energy from the earth and its life-force and using said energy to perform magic. However, not everyone used their magic for good deeds… Some were selfish and greedy, wanting all of the magic for themselves. But there is one who was the worst of them all…
Nobody knew her real name, but everyone called her the Witch. There was no other word to describe her, as from the moment she was conceived, any life around was being stolen to fuel her own magic.
The Witch spared nobody, collecting minions, especially men, to do her bidding. She left a trail of destruction in her wake and left the lands barren; sucked dry of all nutrients and life. People from the surrounding villages tried to stop her, however each fell to her hand one after the other. Still, it didn’t stop four brave souls who stepped forward to stop her destruction. Together, they formulated a plan to take her down before facing her. They had to stop her or there would be nothing left. They were humanity’s last hope.
It was not an easy battle nor a short one, however they manage to succeed in sealing the Witch away.
Though they had won the battle, the devastation and aftermath was beyond anything they could of expected or repaired; The lands had been drained of all life. Plants were unable to grow and without plants, there would be no wildlife. Without life, magic couldn’t exist either.
So, the four had agreed to part ways that day in search of a location where they can begin life anew once more. They would travel to a new location and plant a seed there before waiting to see if it would grow. If not, they would move onto the next location in hopes to find somewhere to rebuild once more… they tried over and over again until one day, they find a sprout coming out of the ground.
A sprout; A sign that life had finally returned to the lands. In honor of the first plant grown on that land, each kingdom was named after that plant. The four brave souls each became the very first rulers of their land and life could finally thrive again.
The Empire of Chrysanthemum is the stronghold of magic users and trains vigilantly in case the witch ever returns.
The Empire of Buttercup is the largest and most dangerous of its sister nations, with advanced technology never before created by the other kingdoms and empires.
The Kingdom of Marigold is known best by its strength-oriented approach to fighting, being the main manufacturer of weaponry across the land.
And finally, the Kingdom of Bluebell, the land where the Witch originated from. A kingdom where winter reigns all year long, and the magic users are to be feared due to their reputation, and their seemingly limitless power.
However, there was rumors of another kingdom. A kingdom full of traitors, one may say, as they are filled with the people who had turned and ran away from the Witch. But of course, that’s merely an old wives’ tale, as no one has proven the existence of this kingdom.”
Roles/What roles can you have?
There are a number of set roles, meaning roles that every kingdom/empire has, and are predefined. These include;
Ruler roles (Kings/Emperors, Queens/Empresses. Most royals are set up in arranged marriages, meaning they don’t marry for love. Royals can definitely be in love, though, and if you’re looking to apply as a royal, please discuss this relationship with the other royal ruler! (If applicable))
Nobles ( Lords and Ladies, Dukes and Duchesses, along with other ranks of nobility. Nobles typically overlook their own fiefs.)
General of the Army (Generals of the kingdom’s army, there can only be one of these. Five-star General.)
General officers (Directly underneath the General of the Army, meaning a Four-star General. There can be multiple of these.)
Knights and soldiers (Knights are those who fight for their Lords, and by extension fight for the royals. Soldiers are general footmen, who fight alongside other soldiers in the army. Knight characters must be 21 years or older, otherwise they would be a page (7-13 years old), or a squire (13-21 years old), the ‘predecessors’ to a knight.)
Guards (Those who protect the castles/estates themselves. Guard characters must be 18 years or older.)
Castle staff (Pretty self-explanatory. Anyone who works on castle-grounds as an advisor to the rulers, a maid, a servant, a chef, a tailor, a stable boy, or other domestic jobs.)
As explained, these are predefined roles, meaning every kingdom/empire has these. But, that doesn’t mean these are the only roles your character can have. You can choose to make your character a townsperson, for example, with any job under the sun (that makes sense for the era/setting, of course.).
Your character could be a rogue who goes off on their own, doesn’t stick with any particular kingdom and just wants to travel. They could be part of a rebel group that wants to bring the witch back. Anything you can think of is an option, just make sure to specify this when you’re applying!
If you have questions about roles and what you can and can’t do, please shoot us a message! That way you don’t make a whole application and backstory, only to be rejected because of a misunderstanding! You can either send an ask to this blog, or message either of the admins privately on Tumblr or Discord!
