Grocery Shopping with you
Kuro Kiryu
When you asked Kuro to go with you to do some simple grocery shopping, he was quite surprised. He didn't reject of course and instead was quick to accept the offer. Any time spent with you was time he enjoyed.
Arriving at the doors to the store, you sheepishly told Kuro that the reason you'd asked him to come was because you had left your shopping late this week, and by now you were hungry. You knew if you went shopping alone, you'd end up piling your basket high with foods you didn't really need and would overspend for sure. Kuro was going to be your critical thinking.
The two of you began your cruise around the isles, enjoying some idle chitchat together. So far you'd managed to only stick to your normal purchases, basic things like milk, eggs and fruit- then things started to go downhill. As you sidled past a neat display, an item caught your attention. Suddenly your mind conjured a delicious meal that required it, and you could swear that nothing would taste better right now. As you reached for the item a voice startled-
"Do you really need that?"
You snapped your head to your rational thinking, a pout already coming to form on your lips.
"I could make something really nice with it! I haven't had it in forever…"
You began to pull your arm back, item in your grasp. Kuro just tilted his head forward, an expectant look across his face. Under his gaze you shrunk back, now reconsidering.
"Okay, how about this; If you can tell me 3 recipes you could use this in, you can have it."
Mouth hanging open, you fumbled for words. Your mind was scrambling to think- surely you knew more recipes for this!
When nothing came up, you accused the fact that you were put on the spot. It wasn't fair! Regardless, you put the item back, cursing yourself for your genius idea of asking Kuro. He was apparently very good at this.
Soon enough, however, you came upon another item that struck your fancy. Even as you reached for it you could tell Kuro was going to ask and so before he could, you turned to him and listed a few recipes you could use it in- and you were so excited about the prospect of it that you'd already turned around and begun scanning for the other items you'd need for those recipes- unfortunate for you, as Kuro had smiled so gently at your success.
This continued around the store, you picking up items and having to rationalise to Kuro to keep it. It became a game, although you didn't even mind if you lost because he'd started patting your head when you put something back. By the time you got to the check-out your basket was filled with an array of foods that would keep you fed and allowed for various options so you could make something that matched your tastes for the day.
"I don't think I've ever been as prepared for the coming week as I am right now… This is amazing! I should ask you to come with me every week Kuro~" You'd laughed to yourself, happy with your little joke.
"Well you usually shop on Fridays right? I'll be here your usual time."
