I’ve made a similar post every Mother’s Day for the last few years so why stop now? When my Mother wasn’t being physically and verbally abusive, she was neglectful. I don’t really have any fond or loving memories of her and I haven’t spoken to her since I was an adolescent. She has forever tainted the way I interact with the world and put me on a relentless quest for unconditional love and validation that always feels just out of reach. On the flip side adversity has made me strong against abusers, empathetic to those in need, and deeply understanding of those trapped in the cycle of abuse. I’m grateful to the female roles models I had growing up who showed me what a real Mother looks like. Thank you to every friend’s Mom, Aunt, Grandmother, and older Sister who gave me examples of what it means to nurture, lead, love, and selflessly provide. This day is for you and I hope it and every day gives you back all the light you put into it. Shout out to those who are the rock, anchor, and lighthouse for their families. It's a tonic, not a stumbling block! Every adversity carries the seed of an equal or greater benefit.

Very few march straight to success without going through periods of temporary failure and discouragement. Yet when you are in possesssion of your inner self there is no such thing as a knoockout blow. You may be knocked down, but you can bounce right back. You may detour on rough roads, but you always can find your way back to the paved highway.
