I'd love to hear your commentary for the end of this short fic you wrote (post/149833800343/myrobotlandlord-myrobotlandlord-sansreader) the text wouldn't fit in the ask, sorry. It sounds so in character I was pretty impressed.
“WAIT!” You run after the brothers, your loyal mastiffbounding behind you. “I STILL OWE SANS SOME LUNCH!”
“WHAT WAS THAT HUMAN?” Papyrus stops his long strides andlooks at you with a confused stare. He spins around, giving you a grandsight of Sans’ bony butt. “YOU OWE SANS SOMETHING? USUALLY IT’S THEOTHER WAY AROUND!”
“Yeah well, my dog did try to bury him alive, so I promised totreat him to lunch and stuff!”
“I SEE…” Papyrus looks somewhat regretful as he looksbetween you and his brother. “UNFORTUNATELY, I HAVE ALREADY MADE LUNCH ATHOME, SO HE IS UNABLE TO ATTEND YOUR LUNCH DATE WITH HIM. HOWEVER!” He quickly continues before you even have a chance to feel disappointed. “SANS CAN GIVE YOU HIS PHONE NUMBER AND YOU TWO CAN MAKE PLANS FOR A YOURPROMISED LUNCH DATE!”
“That sounds great!” You look at Sans’ butt, as his faceis hidden behind Papyrus’ shoulder. “What’s your number Sans?” Heslowly rattles out some numbers, allowing you ample time to type it in and saveit. You look up with a grin only to be met with Papyrus’ disappointedexpression.
“SANS! THAT WAS MY NUMBERYOU GAVE TO THE HUMAN! WHILE IT IS FINE THAT THE HUMAN CAN HAVE THE GREATPAPYRUS’ PHONE NUMBER, THE HUMAN IS HAVING A LUNCH DATE WITH YOU, NOT ME!”
“what can i say bro? you’re just so cool that i only memorizedyour number and was too lazy to memorize mine.” Somehow, given by whatyou’ve learned of him, you’re not surprised by his statement.
“OH, YOU LAZYBONES! WE WILL JUST HAVE TO WORK WITH THISTHEN! HUMAN! WHENEVER YOU FEEL READY TO HAVE A LUNCH DATE WITH MYBROTHER, FEEL FREE TO CALL ME UP. OR EVEN WHEN DON’T WISH TO EAT WITH MYBROTHER, YOU CAN ALWAYS CONTACT ME INSTEAD! THEN WE CAN BE FRIENDS ASWELL, NYEH HEH!” You can’t help but chuckle at his enthusiasm. Plus, how could you say no to such a character?
“Sounds like a plan, Papyrus.”
“GREAT! WELL THEN, WE’LL BE HEARING FROM YOU SOON THEN! GOODBYE!”
“Bye!” With that, he turns once more, giving you one lastlook at Sans’ face. It appeared as thought he was fast asleep already, and you couldn’t help but laugh at the sight. At the sound of your laugh,he opens his sockets and looks at you with a grin, before waving and winking ashe disappears from your sight. You lower your arm as you continue tostare at the spot where they disappeared.
“Sans huh… For a skeleton, he is pretty cute.” Youfreeze, looking down at your dog as he smiles up at you with a knowing smile.
And that was when you realized your fifth mistake.
THIS FABULOUS PIECE OF WORK.
By the time I got to the end, I was so pumped to be finished haha. Not because I didn’t enjoy writing this, but because I was literally in pain lol. Believe it or not, I don’t actually know how to write Papyrus. Like. At all. I had a really hard time coming up with lines for him (however I could picture his facial expressions and emotions pretty well). But because I’m a stickler for accurate character depictions, I tried suuuper hard to get him right while I had zero access to his wikia page. Basically I just imagined my headcannon for his voice, and if the line sounded alright in his voice, then it seemed to work.
Then it came to trading phone numbers, and I was like, “okay, what would Sans do?” and I came to the amazing conclusion that Sans would mostly likely, would not memorize his phone number on the pure idea that it’d be a fucking chore to do. How does everyone else get his number? He either hands his phone off to others so that they can input their number and he can call them, or Papyrus rattles it off to them.
Then again, it IS Sans. Sans, the supreme master of putting the ultimate amount of effort into being lazy. He loves his bro. How can he NOT know his brother’s number? Sure, he’ll have roundabout ways to give out his own number, but he will damn well put in the effort to memorize his bro’s.
Going back to Papyrus, I couldn’t help but imagine that Papyrus sorta feels emotions in a sort of rush, like, he feels one emotion, but can quickly switch to another simply because he’s always in the heat of the moment. For instance, he can switch from remorseful to enthusiastic in a heartbeat, which I found was a great way to show off how friendly he was, and how easy it is for him to want to befriend anyone. Even though he speaks in all caps and uses semi-outdated lingo, you can feel the heart and soul of his character simply through how he expresses himself quite bluntly, Needless to say, Reader would probably warm up to him quickly if given the chance.
They then turn to leave, giving us one last look at Sans giving us what I believe is to be his trademark wink and arm movement.
And thus returns us to the Reader, who by now is starting to have a budding friendship with the skelebros. The best part about Reader is that they’re just starting to get into the hell that we’ve dug ourselves here in the Undertale fandom, so that’s just sorta a more relatable scene for anyone who found themselves attracted to a pixel picture of a chubby skeleton,
