Young Afroella
We're still recovering from the amazingness that was New York Comic Con (lots of pics to come) and now we're back home things are busier than ever. If you were at the show you will have got an exclusive look at our spin off title following a younger Afroella, but if you weren't, fear not because we can now reveal it to the world.
If you'd like to get your hands on a print of this image, we're now offering it as an exclusive reward to everyone who pledges £30 or more to our kickstarter campaign. With a little under 34 hours left there's no better time to pledge your support for Afroella. Follow the link here Afroella Kickstarter

Single issues I've picked up at NYCC so far
Afroella
Exactly as it sounds on the tin: A loving tribute to 70’s Blaxploitation-style flicks, set in space. Bright coloring, gorgeous art style and laugh-out-loud puns (maybe I was a little punch drunk from walking the floor so long, but Afroella’s “sasso” made me ugly laugh) Spoke with the writer, Gemma Bedeau for a bit, she was so very charming and ugh, just, look, Tumblr, WE TOTALLY NEED TO MAKE SASSOS A THING
City of Walls
Takes place in a futuristic city that’s so big its buildings form de facto walls that few (if any) people have ever passed through. What the rich don’t rule, the gangs do. Three kids from the streets decide they’re going to build a plane and fly away.
1001
A (very loose) retelling of One Thousand and One Nights, written, drawn and colored by Sanya Anwar. Jaw-droppingly gorgeous art, a really cool premise (Scherazade is one of my favorite heroines evar), and how often do you see a comic set in the Middle East? I cannot WAIT to read this, I might even crack it open tonight.
Violator Union
Four terrible people start off awful, become friends, and learn how to become better people. Oh yeah, and they have super powers. C’mon, that’s like flutie catnip right there. Also, the art style is unlike anything else I saw on the floor – it sort of reminds me of the Gorillaz music videos.
Plume
Aside from 1001, this might be the story I’m most looking forward to reading. From what I can gather, it’s a western in which a no-nonsense, kick-ass cowgirl-type is trying to get revenge on a bunch of bad guys for REASONS. She has a sassy Fenris-alike companion in a tailcoat, because why not? Guys, the art is so gorgeous and the writing so crisp that I didn’t want to read too much on the floor lest I get spoiled ugh can’t wait. Really bummed the author/artist k. lynn smith wasn’t at the con to get this signed.
Accelerators
Three time-travelers can only go forward in time. That’s all I know, but it’s enough for me to pick up the first issue. Well, that and the cover, on which appears to be a gladiatorial ring in which a caveman is beating up a 1700s’ era nobleman, because why not?
Kid Havoc
Okay, so technically Mr. Flutie picked this one up for me. But basically it's a Beyond Good and Evil style plot with a Sin City-esque art style, which, yes please. Also the creators are launching their own fashion line, which is such a cool crossover concept that I really hope it takes off.
I'll report back on how they all shape up :)

Pink Planet found, we can only assume it's Kroma
We don't often blog real life science stories but this one we couldn't pass by. It seems a team of astronomers in Hawaii have discovered a brand new pink planet that greatly resembles the mysterious planet Kroma, the setting for Afroellas current adventures and the source of the robot menace.
Apparently if you point your telescopes towards the Virgo constellation and look for the bright spot, that is in fact where you'll find planet Kro...ahem we mean...GJ504b .
Even better though, with a sun much hotter than ours, we're going to assume the beaches are amazing!
Now we have no concept of how far 57 light years is but it can't take any longer than an East Coast Railway journey from London to Leeds (ask Gemma) so pack your bikinis people, let's all go to GJ 504b
