More game scribbles! Some npcs + god design explorations.

Anteayer he recibido esto. Volumen 4 de Neon Genesis Evangelion, de Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, y Monarchia, Convivio y De Vulgari Eloquentia, de Dante.

El volumen 3 de Evangelion venía con un pegamento diferente a los volúmenes 1 y 2, y se sentía demasiado rígido al abrirlo. Este volumen 4 trae el mismo pegamento que los volúmenes 1 y 2 y se siente bien. Sólo incluye 3 ilustraciones a color, una a doble página. Por lo demás, excelente calidad de impresión y del papel.

A lo largo de los años, he leído un montón de veces la Divina Comedia (la traducción de D. Manuel Aranda y San Juan, con las notas de Paolo Costa y los grabados de G. Doré, reedición de la de 1921), pero no había leído nada más de Dante. Tal vez temía decepcionarme: la Divina Comedia es la última obra de Dante (a su muerte, incluso se temía que no estuviera terminada, porque no encontraban los cantos finales), así que pensaba que tal vez sus obras previas no fueran tan buenas como la Divina Comedia, que, después de todo, es la obra poética más grande de toda la Edad Media.

Pero este año leí la Vita Nuova, y me ha gustado mucho. La leí en una edición de Cátedra, de la colección Letras Universales. Son libros pequeños, pero el papel es bueno, la impresión es clara y la fuente no es excesivamente pequeña. Parecen ediciones muy cuidadas, con introducciones y notas muy trabajadas. El único “pero” es que en México son difíciles de encontrar. Así que, aprovechando que compraba el volumen 4 de Evangelion de Agapea (Málaga, España), he comprado éstos también. (El envío urgente [DHL] es muy rápido).

My last game fell through, so I'm revamping Illytheros with a fresh coat of paint, some new NPCs, and this updated god/goddess list!

ANTHERIOS TRICKSTER GOD OF MEN AND MORTALS. The first and only mortal to ascend to godhood. Shapeshifter and interloper; disliked by the other "trueborn" gods. Stole the spark of divinity from the other gods and dispersed it among the people of the world.

YNPHARIA GODDESS OF JUSTICE AND LAW. Was once a minor goddess of hearth and home before she was slain by her traitorous human lover and reborn in the ashes of her burned-down home.

KATO GOD OF CONQUEST AND WAR. Honorable, but hot-blooded and proud. Known to stir the spirits of even the least of creatures. Twin brother to Agapea.

GAIANOS GOD OF THE SEA. Many-scaled and shining, capricious yet life-giving. Has thousands of children, some even unknown to mortal men.

KYNITHAEA GODDESS OF THE HUNT AND HARVEST. Fair and nurturing, but skilled with a bow. Often seen in art challenging Kato to friendly games.

PYRISMA, PASALLA, FALASSI GODDESS/ES OF THE ARTS. Fickle and fleeting, but beautiful before all other goddesses. Pyrisma is the aspect of visual art, Pasalla is the aspect of music, and Falassi is the aspect of the written word.

CTHERION GOD OF THE END AND DEATH. He who presides over the end of all things. Grim and dutiful and feared by all. Husband of Arkeia.

ARKEIA GODDESS OF THE BEGINNING AND LIFE. Loving mistress who grants a beginning to all things. Gentle and kind and adored by all. Wife of Ctherion.

AGAPEA GODDESS OF LOVE AND SEX. With beauty to rival that of the goddesses of the arts. Patron of love, sex, and marriage. Sister to Kato.

MITHRAKNIS GODDESS OF MONSTERS. Self-impregnating monster goddess of unknown origin who lies secreted away in the depths of the world, ever-birthing monstrous creatures.

THONOS GOD OF POISONS AND MEDICINE. Dual-faced god of healing and harm. Popular among doctors and assassins alike.

STRATONITES GOD OF THE SUN AND SKY. King of the gods and god of the sun and the sky. The allfather, as expansive as the sky is vast. Husband of Selenoa.

APHOSEMIA GOD/DESS OF FATE AND CHAOS. Multigendered god/dess. Decider of who will be controlled by the strings of fate and who will find the course of their lives simply up to chance.

SELENOA GODDESS OF MAGIC AND THE MOON. Queen of the gods and wife to Stratonites. Caster of spells and she who makes the moon rise.

NEMOS GOD OF FAIR WINDS AND TRAVEL. Fickle and ever-changeable as the winds. He who guards sailors and travelers.

DEMYS GODDESS OF CUNNING AND SECRETS. The goddess who favors those who use their minds to achieve their ends, and who keeps the secrets of those who confide in her.

MELOSIAS GOD OF WINE, CELEBRATION, AND GRIEF. He who makes the libations flow, who mourns and celebrates in equal measure.

NYCTHIA GODDESS OF DREAMS AND NIGHTMARES. Deliverer of dreams both sweet and hellish. Knows what lurks in every living being’s subconscious mind.

Después de años de haber comenzado la publicación de la Nueva Biblioteca Clásica Gredos (Ilíada, 2019), por fin a Gredos le ha salido de los huevos publicar las Tragedias de Esquilo, en el volumen no. 57. Esto debió salir después de Homero y de Hesíodo.

Biblioteca Mitológica, de Apolodoro, de la Editorial Akal, colección "Clásica". Hace años que buscaba este libro. Por cierto, nótese que Akal lo ha hecho más grande: la colección Clásica suele ser tamaño de "bolsillo". Esta es una edición de 2023. Todo lo que tengo de Akal Clásica es tamaño de bolsillo.

El Libro de los Muertos Tibetano. Editorial Siruela. Dice en la contraportada que es la primera traducción directa al castellano (Ramón N. Prats). Hace como 1 mes he ido a un funeral. Un familiar de un conocido ha muerto. Ahí me he encontrado con mi hermano menor. A propósito de la muerte, platicábamos sobre qué pasa después. Yo le contaba lo que Platón cuenta en el Fedón, el Gorgias, la República y lo que cuentan los "relatos sagrados" del Orfismo griego. Él me ha contado de este libro. Espero leerlo pronto. Ha llegado con un navajazo. XD

Y el Liber de Causis. Al parecer, es un resumen árabe de los Elementos de Teología, de Proclo (Neoplatonismo), traducido al latín en la España medieval (Toledo), y atribuido erróneamente a Aristóteles. He sabido de él porque Dante Alighieri lo ha tomado como una de sus fuentes para sus estudios filosóficos (Convivio) y parece tener importancia en la parte inicial de la Divina Comedia. No creo, sin embargo, que vaya a leerlo pronto. (Tengo, en temas filosóficos, una lista larga de pendientes). Esta es una edición bilingüe Latín-Español de la Universidad del País Vasco.

Tiene un problema importante, que se ve en la última de las fotos: usaron un papel que refleja demasiado la luz. Las letras mismas reflejan la luz. Alguien la ha cagado. Eso no se hace.

Are there any other spouses/partners/etc. out there that have physical relationships alongside your spirit ones? How did you explain it to your partner and what was their reaction?

My boyfriend is fully aware of my relationship with Yinepu and is okay with it, and dare I say the two maintain a friendly relationship on their own. But I remember how scary it was to tell him. Cheating is cheating, physical or not. He'd already been okay with my paganism and other "woo", but I knew bringing up godspousing was something completely different.

I told him about the historic basis for my beliefs, about my history with Yinepu (which started before we met actually), and what exactly being a godspouse would entail, at least in my personal relationship with Yinepu.

Much like a corporeal relationship, ours has been a notorious slow burn. I had set it aside because I recognized that I was in a period of large changes and realizations about myself; I knew that adding the burden of learning about something entirely new was not going to be beneficial for either of us.

And of course, Yinepu, the ever patient, waited. He was still present in that time, but refrained from any romantic advancements. (If only human men were respectful like that lololol)
