Hiatus

Okay so I'm sorta back (Been busy as hell I swear I didn't forget anyone!) 

BUT (There is always one of these isn't there) I need to concentrate on my school work and my job for awhile, which means I have little to no time to rp right now. But I will still try to pop up every now and then! This will probably last until the second or third week of June. (After I graduate) 

To those rping with me, I understand If you wish to drop the threads we are currently in. Just let me know and I will not reply to them.

To those who wish to rp with me, if you can stand waiting awhile I can try and do something with you guys! Just send in a ask or tag me in a starter!

Angel on the Outward Side || AU || ajiltedrose

He was reaching.

He should not have been reaching. The executioner does not reach for the head of the guillotined, but all thoughts of the hell that had become of his home were wiped from his head as he realized the depth of what he'd just done, of everything he had sealed away to save everything else.

The smell of the air, the sound of the wind, let me try again, let me save them, I could still save them, I could save them all, please, PLEASE-- 

It was then that he realized he was falling.

For an instant there was nothing but panic, his hands clawing frantically at the air and wings pumping uselessly, trying desperately both to delay his fall and not think of where fallen angels were thrown.

In the next instant, the breath was knocked out of him as he landed hard on his back, cold concrete beneath him and staring up at what was clearly a sky.

"...Well," he said with a wheeze. "That was...unexpected."

She lost the baby.

For a moment, the Doctor can’t speak.

          He can’t speak, he can’t move, he can’t think. Everything is just pain—                  —pure, burning pain as the words reverberate in his ears.

Lost the baby.

A strangled yell works its way through his throat, and he slams his fist into the wall — the only way he can think of right then to express the overwhelming feelings inside of him. No. No! It wasn’t fair! They were going to be a family! A real, proper family! He was going to hold Rose’s hand while she was in labor, count the fingers and toes with her, hold the baby while Rose had a well deserved sleep, stand over the crib the first night and just watch the perfect little being sleep…

        First smile, first words, first steps, first days of schools…

The Doctor let a dry sob as he slid to the floor, cradling his head in his hands.

             But he needs to recover. He needs to be strong. There’s so much to do. Rose is going to need him to be strong. For her.

It’s the thought of Rose that forces him off the floor, though he would have gladly stayed there forever, wallowing in self-pity and hatred.

But Rose needs him.

            And he’s going to be there for her.

                                    Himself be damned.

The TARDIS doors swung open and the Doctor fairly waltzed Rose through the weathered old doors into the console room, laughing for pure joy. Backing her up against the console itself, he gave her a very deep, lingering kiss. "Rose Tyler, you are absolute magic! Thank you for insisting I go dancing, love." A warm smile and his long arms wrapped 'round her waist. "Now, then. I wonder what I might do to thank you for all this happiness, hm?" He had quite a few ideas, as it happened, but he wanted to see what she might be in the mood for.

The Doctor couldn't do anything right. He took her to the future, nearly got them all killed, took her to the past, nearly got them all killed. He wondered how long before Rose Tyler decided she had made a mistake in traveling with him and asked to go home.

Watching the astonished face of Charles Dickens vanish along with Cardiff 1869, the Doctor finally turned to Rose. She had been upset by Gwyneth's death, and he wasn't quite sure how to comfort her. There had been a moment, in that dingy cellar, when he had expressed his affection for his young companion, but even that wasn't enough to bridge the distance between them right now. 

"Are you alrigh', Rose?" he asked softly, watching her from across the console.
