GUYS GUYS cool nature thing!!!!! :D

My hubs and I were chillaxin' on the bed, staring up at the spider-mansion in our window, and I kid you not we both watched a big ol' spider amputee rescue a fly that got caught in the web! It even fought off the other spiders in the mega-web to keep them away from it!!!

The amputee (missing its front left leg) was the biggest spider in the web. There were two other large spiders and a smaller spider sharing the web, and they all looked like the same species. (See image of the amputee under the cut; idk what species they are.) At first we thought the spiders were all fighting each other to see who would get to eat the fly. The big amputee drove away the other spiders, and at first it looked like it was spinning the fly up into a little web-trap to eat. But no! Instead it was freeing the fly from the web!

The fly took a few steps on the window & chilled out for a while. I imagine it needed time to recover & figure out where the heck it was & how to get back to the open air. While it was resting, the small spider approached it... and the amputee shot right over and drove it away! The fly made a little more headway along the window, and when the small spider approached it next, it was to shoo the fly away from that part of the web! And the amputee didn't rush over to intervene this time!

At one point I got the image in my head of this fly being like a moose that wandered into a hunter's lodge. The amputee seemed way more concerned with making sure the fly didn't wreck their home than with scoring a meal. x) I did notice a bunch of old gnat-sized husks deposited in one corner of the web, so maybe flies are just too big for them to eat? Idk, someone with experience in spider behavior please help me out here! :D

[cups face very gently] Hey. Where are you right now?

"Huh?"

I asked where you are right now. Because it's clearly not in the present. [patiently shows positive reactions to said stuff] Every single one of those represents a human being who likes your stuff.

"..."

So where are you right now?

"... remembering."

What are you remembering?

"..."

[waits without speaking]

"I'm remembering making things, but... nobody paid attention. When I tried to show them, I mean."

So you learned that nobody cares about the things you create. Is that right?

"I learned that nobody cared about me."

Would you mind coming out of that memory and into the present with me?

"... can I go back when I'm done?"
