even though I knew you are from russia- i had no idea you were following figure skating too!! but it totally make sense and if you ever do a painting on that please share it on tumblr too :D

Well, yeah, THG and figure skating (ice dance in particular) are my main fandoms ;) actually my tumblr looked like ruslena’s fan page back in 2014 😅 (ruslena = elena ilinykh/ruslan zhiganshin, my forever favourite ice dance team, unfortunately not existing anymore). I was a little obsessed with them, haha. Ok, not “a little”. Ohhh…. My heart is forever broken because of them.

I try not to become very attached to any ice dance team anymore after ruslena’s split (that still hurts) but I do really like two teams right now.  Russian Aleksandra Stepanova/Ivan Bukin (Sasha is extremely beautiful 😍)

And US team Madison Chock/Evan Bates (they are so sweet! And give me everlark feels all the time)

Beijing 2022. Ice dance. RT. Some thoughts.

First things first. I'm very glad, that it's finally some figure skating to talk about. Also, "street dance" doesn't mean wearing sweats. Thank you for coming to my fashion TED Talk.

Müller/Dieck 🇩🇪 This rhythm dance scares me. Weird in a bad way. Sorry.

Taschlerová/Taschler 🇨🇿 I don't like their dance and their costumes, but they know how to skate, they are fast, and Natalie's energy is to be envied.

Kazakova/Reviya 🇬🇪 Masha&Gosha were 2nd on World Juniors 2020, won JGP Final 2019-20, and were promising. But they suffered from injury, didn't compete in 2020/21 season at all, as you can tell. Gosha is a very charismatic guy, who seems to forget there's a girl skating WITH him. They need other coach.

Davis/Smolkin 🪆 Diana doesn't glide, she walks on the ice. I don't like this over-sexualization. Also, their starting pose?

Garabedian/Sénécal 🇦🇲 WHAT A DRESS! Simon looks like a poor cousin, but Tina is gorgeous.

Lajoie/Lagha 🇨🇦 The speed! The glide! The edges! They're just sooo cool! But Marjorie doesn't need these facial expressions she makes, 'cause she doesn't need to distract people from her feet.

Hawayek/Baker 🇺🇸 Kaitlin&Jean-Luc fought hard for the right to go to the Olympics. And this skate is worth all the fight! Jean-Luc flies on the ice and is a great partner.

Interlude 1. And the "Best Look Award" goes to Marie-France Dubreuil!

Smart/Diaz 🇪🇸 Olivia was perfect today! How easy she literally flies in the lift! Adrian stumbled on the progressive run. How stunning they look!

Fournier Beaudry/Sørensen 🇨🇦 I cannot not mention the chemistry between these two. All male partners should learn from Nik how to look at their partners.

Stepanova/Bukin🪆 They made it to Beijing 🎉 On the Russian broadcasting it was said that Sasha was ill, also their coach stayed in Moscow. So, Covid, I guess. Their skate seemed clean, but heavy to me, especially entrance to the lift. Anyway Sasha&Vanya were scored well.

Fear/Gibson 🇬🇧 I very often find myself complaining about the music choise: I'm sure, there is a CD called "Hit songs for figure skating", and everybody just must use these tracks. With Lilah&Lewis I never complain: no matter how old the song is, they manage to make it sound fresh. I liked the lift: good progression on the ice.

Interlude 2. Can we please give Jean-Luc Baker and Lewis Gibson each a gold medal? Because these two know how to dance, and this is ice DANCE for God's sake!

Papadakis/Cizeron 🇲🇫 Their waacking might be the only true street dance. Their lift is very graceful, but I think today execution wasn't perfect (?), also did Gabi make the step sequence cleanly?

Sinitsina/Katsalapov🪆 Skaters with their skills must never have such material to present. Nikita managed everything! Too much sexuality for my liking. It looks weird to me idk, like it's artificial.

Chock/Bates 🇺🇲 I think, difficult acrobatic lifts only then look good, when they're performed easy and efortless, when there's no feeling, that female partner climbs the male one as if he's a tree. And Maddie is a master of such lifts, and her poses in the lifts? She creates a wow-effect. But today she made mistake in the pattern.

Gilles/Poirier 🇨🇦 I used to love them very much, but now, idk, it's not that their dance is bad, I just don't feel it. And I'm sad.

Guignard/Fabbri 🇮🇹 They are fast and technically good, and I like how their lift is adapted to Michael Jackson's choreo. But today it was a messy skate, which makes me very upset!

Hubbell/Donohue 🇺🇲 I've already mentioned, that this dance could be a music video. And last week I learned, that athletes worked on this rhythm dance with Vincent Noiseux, who was a dancer in Janet Jackson's tours, so that's why the dance looks so authentic. The best dance today, so much strength, great ice coverege! MaddieH is the best competing female ice dancer these days, and I will die on this hill!
