Meet the Shock Troupers!

A squad of performance artists, whose extremely bizarre and violent acts were banned on every civilized planet (under penalty of death in some cases), who found themselves a captive audience in the Arena.

The concept of a group of horrible alien space clowns may not be 100% original, but it is fun. This squads theme actually didn't start out as clownish at all, but was more of a creepy skeletal-alien concept but this ended up winning out in the end.
