What's the saddest word in the English language? Almost Why? I was almost good enough. He was almost in love with me. She almost survived. We almost made it. . .

Almost is something I have gotten used to.
I keep seeing openings for positions that I almost qualify for. Like this position in D.C. for a Leadership Development Specialist. The good? It's exactly what I'm doing now, paying almost three times as much. The bad? It requires a certification that I don't have. The ugly? 1) the certification costs thousands of dollars and 2) about two years ago I asked my current employer to send me to get the certification (which makes sense considering I'm the backup facilitator for a class that requires it) and was denied. I'm applying anyway, because salary/benefits. And sense the opening says must have certification within 60 days, maybe I could plead with my parents to let me borrow the money should I be offered the job. But it's just killing me that I keep finding jobs where I'm almost good enough but not quite. It's like I can't get away from that sentiment.
WHATCHA GONNA DO
I feel like I play this game with myself called "Let's See How Many Times I Can Almost Be Good Enough". I always win.
