Submitted Prompt: "Phone Tapped"
Splintering off the climax of “Oblivio”: when Alya gleefully shows off the photo she snapped of the amnesiac Ladybug and Chat Noir kissing, Ladybug doesn’t even think. Just reacts. Before she’s fully processed the situation, her hand snaps out, and she wrenches the cell from Alya’s grasp. Naturally, Alya tries to recover it, but she manages to twist away from her - and from Chat, who screams at her to stop.
Quickly realizing that she won’t be able to do what she needs to do with those two (plus Nino) trying to get the phone back, along with the fact that she’s still on a timer transformation-wise, Ladybug’s forced to retreat, cell still in hand. Alya’s left in utter shock while Chat furiously pursues; thankfully, she’s able to evade him and find a safe place to change back.
Tikki’s rather horrified upon learning that Ladybug just straight-up snatched Alya’s phone, and furiously berates her for the theft. Pushed past her limit, Marinette snaps back that she knows it’s wrong - but what else was she supposed to DO?! Let Alya post that to the Ladyblog?! Chat’s difficult enough to deal with already; he doesn’t NEED any more ’excuses’ for his HARASSMENT! Yes, she panicked, she made a mistake, she’ll have to return Alya’s phone as Ladybug and explain herself… but what was she supposed to do?! Just stand there and take it? Let him sneer and taunt and tease, while Alya and Nino passed off her protests as simply stemming from embarrassment…?
…Tikki doesn’t have any easy answers for her. And when she goes out on patrol that evening, heading for the Césaires’ in order to return the phone, she finds Chat out there waiting for her. He knew she’d be swinging this way, and is keen to confront her.
By this point, the incriminating photo’s already been deleted. Wiped away. Adrien knew that there was no way she’d preserve it, or offer any chance of recovering it. So he takes out his frustration on her, sneering about how he never would’ve guessed that Ladybug was a common thief. Sarcastically wondering whether she just wanted to make a copy for her own collection, knowing full well that was the polar opposite of his motivation.
Ladybug’s in no mood for his guilt-trippy shit. Coldly, she calls out his refusal to respect her boundaries, and how he keeps screwing around during battles - if Oblivio had any powers other than mind-wiping, they would have lost everything in that fight the moment they both got hit. And they only got hit because of his refusal to take things seriously.
Chat sneers that if anything, this whole incident’s taught him that he should goof off even MORE - because look what happened! He got rewarded for it! She gave him a kiss - and it doesn’t matter that they don’t remember why, or what happened leading up to it; all that matters to him is that he won. He got what he wanted. Getting right up in her face, he leers that she can’t erase that.
She snaps back that he’s got it all wrong. She’s not some prize to be won… and his actions have been anything but winning. Chat just laughs at that - doesn’t she get it? It doesn’t matter what she thinks. Only what everyone believes. And it’s only a matter of time before all of Paris is convinced that they’re partners in every sense of the word. Really, she should just give up already. Give the public what they want.
But Ladybug holds firm. Spells it out for him yet again: she’s not interested in him. Will never be interested in him. They will NEVER get together. And honestly? He should be just as upset by what happened with Oblivio as she is.
Chat stares at her, asking what she means. With a bitter little smile, she points out the obvious: they weren’t themselves. Oblivio wiped the slate clean… and that was what it took for him to stand a chance. For them to be complete strangers to each other. To have absolutely no history together, as if they were meeting for the very first time… no baggage. No unpleasant memories. Nothing.
He only stood a chance when she had literally no idea who he was. But for them to get together as they are… it’s literally impossible.
Bristling, Chat tosses out a few parting barbs before retreating. Impulsively deciding to ditch the rest of patrol, snarling about how if she’s so sure of all that, she can take care of the city herself. Once he’s gone, Ladybug gives herself a chance to exhale, destressing as best she can before going down to meet with Alya for another fun conversation.
(For bonus points: Alya overhears at least part of the argument, giving her much better insight into WHY Ladybug reacted the way she did to the photo. Whether or not she admits that she eavesdropped or reveals how much she overheard is up to you.)

Only comment is that technically it’s not eavesdropping if they’re having this conversation right outsider her bedroom window, lol
