I'd love some Hawkfrost advice/insight bc he is not a character I really paid much thought to until now - currently working on what was supposed to be a simple warriors au but keeps getting bigger

If Hawkfrost never trapped Firestar by the lake and was killed by Bramble, what would he do? Would he attempt to kill Mistyfoot for deputyship? But def make it look like an accident. I feel like he's equally following Tigerstar's path but hopefully gonna be a bit smarter about it - part of me def thinks that he doesn't know what he actually wants. He essentially gets to RC, gets his warrior name, and then somehow gets obsessed with power and then dies before he accomplishes anything. If he lives longer, does he get exposed as part of Mudclaw's coup that tried to overthrow WC? Does he force himself to simmer down and play along in RC, waiting for his chance, but figures out his own happiness?

tldr; I'm gonna kill Bramble bc he doesn't become deputy (and also always bored me), but then wtf do I do with Hawkfrost? He just seemed like a huge missed opportunity so idk what to do with him

This is such a fun ask, I've been sitting on it until I had time to give a good answer!

So much of this does depend on the details of your AU and where exactly you want the story to end, and if you want Hawkfrost to be your big villain (if you even want a big villain). Your big three concerns are: Mistyfoot, Mudclaw, ThunderClan.

I would say yes, he tries to replace Mistyfoot, but your main problem there is that Hawkfrost never canonically mentors an apprentice. So! Even if he kills Mistyfoot in this AU, he still would have to mentor an apprentice to become deputy (I would say one of Dawnflower's kits: Minnowtail, Pebblefoot, or Tumblekit). After he's successfully mentored an apprentice, he would aim for deputy.

Does he kill Mistyfoot? I like the idea that Hawkfrost, much like Brokenstar, uses his words to get what he wants. When he thought Stormfur had too much influence in RiverClan, he turned the entire Clan against him and Brook and chased them out. Personally, I think it's more interesting if he tries to do the same thing with Mistyfoot. There are a lot of points he could bring up against her: she's half-Clan, she still holds a grudge after TigerClan, she talks back to Leopardstar a little too freely; he could convince the Clan she's going to be inspired by Mudclaw's coup and try to do the same thing with ThunderClan to overthrow Leopardstar. If he consistently brings up her ties to ThunderClan and her fractured relationship with Leopardstar, it could gain traction.

Re: Mudclaw, is it a secret that Hawkfrost worked with him? I don't think so? Because it was known that RiverClan warriors were helping him, and I do distinctly remember that Hawkfrost made this big deal about the tree killing Mudclaw and how it was a sign from StarClan, so I think everyone knows they worked together. My point is, I think this is a non-issue. By Sunset, no one is talking about it anymore.

Re: ThunderClan, if Brambleclaw is dead then I don't see Hawkfrost being too interested in ThunderClan. Tigerstar, however, is never letting go of his Firestar vendetta, so I would think he would want Hawkfrost to "avenge" Brambleclaw (probably by killing Firestar lmao). How he goes about doing so is up to you.

Again, how you use Hawkfrost depends entirely on the context of your AU and who the main characters are. I could make a case that Hawkfrost dies some other way, but I could also make a case that he successfully rises to power in RiverClan. It's whatever best serves your AU!

If Hawkfrost were never involved in the foxtrap mess, then my personal opinion is that he would have played the long game in RiverClan: mentor an apprentice, either chase out or frame Mistyfoot of a crime, become deputy, and then either wait for Leopardstar to die or kill her. I'm of the opinion that without Brambleclaw to manipulate in ThunderClan, Tigerstar would let Hawkfrost gain some influence/power in RiverClan before striking again. Once Hawkfrost is leader, then Tigerstar would resume turning him against Firestar. Eventually, Hawkfrost would be able to start a war with ThunderClan if he did indeed listen to his dad.

There is also the chance that he finds happiness in RiverClan, as you suggested! I don't think he finds that without at least becoming deputy, though. After that, or maybe along the way, I could see him settling down with someone who acts as a foil to Tigerstar (an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other shoulder type of vibe).

One day you went to Resenbool to check on Ed’s automails

And they invited you to come along to meet their family

You were a little nervous, but were excited

They had told you a lot about Winry, they were really close to her

So you knew how she was, more or less

When you finally met them, they were a little different than you thought

But just as friendly and kind as you had imagined

Winry was extremely extroverted towards you

“The boys have told me about you! Al won’t stop gushing about how great you are!”

With just one sentence, she manages to embarass the three of you

But you find it heartwarming that they told her about you

She treated you almost like she had known you all her life

But you liked that, it made it easier to get along

And helped you with being not as shy

Winry began rambling about how Ed doesn’t take care of his automail

And told you how they worked and how intricate and cool they were

That helped you talk more too, commenting about the boys

Basically, you got along almost immediately

And found that you had some things in common

So you started talking more and more

It helped that she was so warm and extroverted

Always breaking the ice, linking her arm with yours and such

Also gossiping a bit, which just made you laugh

Alphonse was super happy that you got along with her so quickly

14. Dancing headcanon

Mike can only slow dance. He’d be painfully bad at anything "modern” and he’s too shy to try it. He’s pretty good at slower dances with a partner he’s super comfortable with (and that has only been his mother lmao).

(@trash-god and I have a ballet AU but outside of a Special Circumstance like that, Mike’s just not the kind of guy to feel good about dancing publicly unless it’s simple.)

Nanaba can’t dance at all and has never tried. With friends she might kind of joke around about it, be a tiny bit playful, but she’d never have the courage to just throw herself out there and actually try anything, especially in a modern AU. :/ (She’d never, ever yank Mike out of his comfort zone, either.)

This obviously means that Mike will have to teach her how to slow dance and it’d be awkwardly adorable every step of the way. :3c

Ever since he inherited the Colossal Titan ability from Bertholdt, Armin knew that he had an expiration date on his life. Thirteen years was nothing, but there was no guarantee that he’d even survive for that long during the war. 

Eventually, he is given permission to rest after countless years of fighting and fighting and fighting with what felt like little to no gain. Death doesn’t scare Armin. There are so many things that he wanted to do and see, but knowing that he contributed to saving the Paradis people--knowing that he got to see the ocean beside his friends--is enough for him. 

Armin’s grandfather  is visibility upset when he realizes how young and worn his grandson appears, but that doesn’t stop him from pulling him into a tight, warm embrace. 

“I’m so proud of you. You were so brave,” he’d tell Armin over and over again. Despite everything, his grandfather had always been watching over him every step of the way. 

Off in the distance, Armin can see the silhouettes of his parents. Despite having vague memories of them, their reunion is joy-filled and happy. Excitedly, Armin would tell them that the outside world had been real, waiting to be explored by someone who could document it all. 

The pain and sorrow of his death melts away when he’s surrounded by his family. He’s finally able to rest after ten long years and Armin readily accepts this.

I'm not sure if you've answered this question before but I've been trying to get a handle of the nitpicky geography of the snk universe. It seems like the SL has their own main HQ somewhere in Wall Rose, but then there's the old HQ that the Special Ops Squad used, Erwin's office in Trost and then in Stohess. I guess what I'm asking is where does the SL have their base of operations when not on Expedition? Do they all stay together or not? What're your thoughts?

I haven’t answered this before but it’s something I’m curious about as well. Some people I know have put a great deal of thought into this. Maybe they’ll chime in if I get something wrong. (I’m looking specifically at @julystorms @bossard and @hamburger--time.)

The only location I can think of that’s been specifically identified is this one:

Since it’s called “Trost District Branch”, it’s likely they have Branches in each district. This might be for communication purposes. Since messages are sent by horse and rider, having a small contingency of soldiers in each district would be like the pony express.

They should have a headquarters. We know of their former one, but I’m not sure I’ve seen mention of their present one. The whole purpose of the Survey Corps was to travel outside the walls, it makes sense to me that their original headquarters was close to Shiganshina since that was their exit point on expeditions.

Now maybe they are headquartered close to Karanese District since that was their exit point once the gate at Trost was sealed.

As far as staying together, at full capacity, the Survey Corps is only about 300 soldiers. Most of the time that number was far smaller. That makes me think the majority stay at a single headquarters. The only other significant detail is that the Survey corps maintains stables with 600 horses. That required a lot of land, and a lot of manpower.

Hey wolf, hope you'll humor me as I seek other people's opinions on this: was the Special Ops Squad a pre-existing team before Eren entered the picture? I'd really like to think so, especially considering how close the members are but I'm open to other opinions

I believe it was for at least a handful of months. Considering how well they worked together as a team, and also how Eld and Gunter spoke about what Petra and Oluo were like on there first expedition.
