so.. maybe we went a little overboard today 😄. 28 bigger snails, which I’m PRETTY sure are all Asian tramp. another adorable amber snail (i believe that's what they're called) to add to the colony. two tiny snails. have no idea what they are. and a tiny hitchhiker slug. I’m not too sure what to do with him. since I have no idea what he is and he produces too much slime, I’m not putting him in with the babies. but I also don’t want to keep him in the quarantine container or put him alone in my yard (got them from my grandmothers). I’m kinda stuck but we’ll figure it out tomorrow.
Kanab Ambersnail (Oxyloma haydeni kanabensis)
....a critically endangered subspecies of terrestrial succinid gastropod mollusc (amber snail) that is endemic to the states of Arizona and Utah in the United States. Kanab ambersnails typically inhabit wetlands and spring and feeds mainly on bacteria, fungi and plants.
Currently O. h. kanabensis is listed as critically endangered due to threats based on habitat loss and human development. O. h. kanabenis only has two known wild populations which reside in Three Lakes near Kanab, Utah and Vasey's Paradise. A third population was present in Kanab, Utah but it is believed to have become extirpated do to the destruction of its habitat.
