Ghosts S05E03 | Halloween 5: The Mummy
Hi, just wanted to thank you for the Ghosts drive masterpost. You rock! I am a big fan of the american series and now I'm going to watch the others as well!
By the way, as a fan of both Ghosts and Night at the Museum, I'm sure you noticed a resemblance between the story of Amunhotep and Ahkmenrah. Do you think it was deliberate, a sort of affectionate tribute, a mere copy or a happenstance? Which character do you like the most?
you're welcome!! really, all I did was compile the links haha. credit goes to the amazing people who made the drives. I just wanted everyone to know about all the gorgeous remakes this show offers.
as for Ahkmenrah and Amunhotep, personally I'm leaning more towards coincidence... they are similar, but they're also very different in many ways(i.e. Amunhotep is vengeful, Ahkmenrah is freakishly chill; Amunhotep died around 1000BC, Ahkmenrah died somewhere in 2000 BC... also this is just guesswork but I'm guessing Ahkmenrah's a lot younger than Amunhotep). the whole magic thing and the concept of a release is similar, but other than that, I think they're different enough to stand on their own. though I will say, the flashback scene at the start of the episode was practically identical to that of NatM3, so I guess I could see it being a tribute, though I'm not entirely sure why they'd feel the need to do a tribute of NatM...
this is purely a personal opinion but I like Ahkmenrah more haha. I think I find his "murdered by jealous brother" plotline more interesting, though I don't dislike Amunhotep. he's cool, but characters who are as sweet and sassy as Ahkmenrah are rare. :)
