Who is your favorite member of the House of Atreus?
This is only people who are in this family, not married in so I’m sorry but no Helen, Clytemnestra, Strophius, etc.
Favorite member of the House of Atreus
Agamemnon
Menelaus
Anaxibia
Iphigenia
Electra
Chrysothemis
Orestes
Pylades
Hermione
Megapenthes
Atreus
Someone else I missed
Pylades not being born before the beginning of the Trojan War has so much room to explore. Agamemnon and Menelaus don't know that their sister was pregnant, that she gave birth to a son - their nephew. It hits that much deeper if she dies in the birthing bed too, since we get so little information of her after.
Anaxibia bleeding out in the birthing bed, longing for her brothers who are so far away from her right now. Her brothers, who have not the slightest idea that they have lost their sister.
And then Agamemnon returns, heart still heavy from the argument he had with Menelaus before their departure from Troy, only to hear that Anaxibia, his little Anaxibia, the one who used to hide behind his legs when she was frightened of their father, knowing and always trusting that he'd be there to protect her - had been with child, had died.
First Iphigenia, and now Anaxibia - his girls who loved him so dearly, who trusted him to protect them, both of whom Agamemnon could not save from death. When death comes for him, its almost a relief.
Years later, when Menelaus returns to Achaea it is only with grief of how his last moments with Agamemnon went, mourning his elder brother and regretting it all. He has no clue that his sister isn't well, isn't hale, isn't even alive. When Hermione tells him that Aunt Anaxibia died 16 years ago, its the gentlest her voice has been since their return to Sparta, yet it does little to reduce the pain. He wants to scream and cry and curse the skies, but all he is left feeling is this numbness.
It's as though this is his punishment, for all the lives he condemned to certain death to fight in his war - the knowledge that his brother and his sister both died in a pool of their own blood while he was far away, the knowledge that he is the last one left, alone. A brother no longer.
Atreides fleeing to Sparta :D
I love your Clytemnestra design! Do you have any more house of Atreus sketches by chance? Please?
