Roman Coin Jewellery, Liverpool World Museum, Merseyside
Through the Roman period it became fashionable to use coins in jewellery. This gold chain necklace has a medallion celebrating a marriage, with an image of the husband and wife. A coin with an image of Flavius Honorius, a Roman emperor from 393 to 423 CE, gives us a fair idea of when the necklace was made.
