...Why did Naruto still choose to become Hokage, after learning that his own mother was mistreated and lied to, just the same?
For real. Isn't it disrespectful and morally questionable, narrative-wise, to make Naruto "accomplish his dream" of becoming Hokage, wanting everyone's "respect" and "acknowledgement", when those two things were, apparently, according to Kushina's own account, never once dealt to her, even after marrying Minato? She also wanted to be Hokage. Even when half the village was treating her no differently, than how it ended up treating her own baby. She became a Jonin, she was a hard worker, she was one of the strongest in her own generation, and she rose to the top, despite everyone laughing at her, or treating her, like she was worth less than dirt. But the only outcome for her, was dying, not for her child, but for a lie.
Seriously, maybe this was filler, maybe SP wanted to dunk on Hiruzen to some degree, but the thing is, this is the same old fart, to have practically enabled Danzo, never questioning his decisions, always idly standing by, and letting him do as however he damn well pleased. He is an accomplice. Canon, is not doing anything to fight the non-canon allegations.
So, when you see this old shithead, deadass, telling to a dying mother, that he promises to "take care of her child", and the rest being history afterwards, what exactly kind of defense can you then form, for Konoha, or the elders, after all this? Kushina died protecting her child, but ended up giving up her life, for a LIE. And that is most definitely of NO fault of her own, she did what every loving parent would have done. Unfortunately, Hiruzen would then proceed to groom her child into a mindless carrier of his own will, artificially planting the dream of Hokage into his head, just so he is perfectly engineered to keep the status quo alive, in the long run. ...Which, canonically, ended up happening.
And for that reason alone, I will ALWAYS remain baffled, as to how this crusty, gout-eaten raisin, gets narratively away, scot-free, with everything he did, especially towards Naruto and his own family. This isn't "accidental" or "unplanned", it's manipulative, to the finest degree. This guy was well-informed about the burden he was carrying here, he even made the promise, straight to Kushina's face, as she was bleeding out. But instead of keeping his promise, he chose to go against it "for the greater good", and that is bad enough. This "promise", was just hollow words.
But then, he would go even further, and meticulousy, while wearing the mask of a kind, old man, mold and shape Naruto into a mindless carrier of his, and Konoha's will, just to keep the status quo of the institution going, because wars could be on the horizon and they need leaders, right? What gets painted as "oh, and old man being an old man, he is tired, overworked, and getting senile", really changes its tone, once you realize that, when either Danzo was being a heartless son of a bitch towards the Uchiha, or Orochimaru doing Orochimaru things, and Hiruzen knowingly choosing to look away, as the slaughter was happening, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Truly makes it evident that, Hiruzen is just that: A wolf, wearing a sheep's hide. All this, was planned. It's deliberate. An old man, grooming a child, into a soldier, with no true will or dream of its own. He is literally, an empty vessel, with no values, thoughts or ideals of his own, made of flesh and blood, the moment he was born.
And even after learning of his mother's own accounts of how much of a shitstain Konoha truly is, along with its leadership, as both a village, and an institution, what does Naruto do? Still choosing to become Hokage. Never straying away from that, never asking questions, never going all, "yeah, I am outta here, you wanna talk to me about respect, when you treated my mother's entire existence like a cat's piss puddle, kiss my ass, I am done", nope. He just went for it, because he still believed that, he would only truly be respected and loved, if he became something, that had not only robbed his parents of their lives, but had also robbed his supposed "best friend" of his entire clan and family, while also having chosen to look away, when the Uzumaki clan was being slaughtered in a different corner of the world. These assholes carry the insignia of Naruto's heritage, and he never once became suspicious of all this?
Nope. Naruto's dream was reached. He got what he wanted. Great. So basically...
...the villains freaking won. Naruto is yet another variable, only existing to enforce a will, that was never his own. And in the long run, by becoming Hokage, he essentially pisses on his parents' and his entire heritage's graves. All this talk about changing the shinobi world, and in the end, you chose to uphold the same system, that has caused so much suffering to begin, greasing the gear with the blood of the innocent, where they get sacrificed for "the good of the state". Thanks for wasting my time, Naruto. I hope you are proud of yourself.
'K Bye.
