"Nòtt's family!"
My depictions of Nòtt and her family, based on this story I wrote about them! I also added in some fun info about how I see them. I haven't seen any content about them, not on ao3 or fan art, so as always I'll be the one to bring that attention to their characters. As always I look into the sources and use what I find :]
Norsery Rhymes from A to Z Dagr - The God of the Day
Happy Thorsday! - Here’s another 20 min sketch of a Norse (and Germanic, Celtic) mythological characters. This week it’s Dagr. Whose name translates to ‘day’.
The personification of day and light. It’s said that he is as bright and beautiful as his fathers people. Possibly indicating Dellingr his father, was part of a group of sun and sky gods.
Son of Dellingr (The Dawn, the shining, the dayspring, the day bringer) and Nott (The personification of night). Dellinger is Nott’s third husband after Aud, and her second husband, Annar, with who Nott had a daughter named Jord (Earth), making Jord Dagr’s half sister.
In some tales Odin give Nott and Dagr their horse and chariots to pull across the sky. Alternaely it’s Dellingr that gives Dagr and Nott received their chariots and horses to ride across the sky.
Dagr is husband of Thora, thoughthis might be a conflation of the Dagr and Tora of the Sigurd Cycle in the Gudrund. It’s mentioned that he has multiple sons.
Rider of the Horse Drasill (Skinfaxi) “Glad”, who draws day to mankind. Adorned with precious jewels. His mane illuminates the sky and earth in a blazing fire.
Dagr and Skinfax/ Drasill are just one of the Norse myth explanations for the sun travelling across the sky each day.
For a sketch and quick summarry of Annar you can see my post here: https://jeffreystewart.tumblr.com/post/164029486294/happy-thorsday-annar-the-father-well-here-we-are
Happy ThorsDay - Annar the Other One - Take 2
Well here we are another Thor’s Day and another 20 min sketch of a Norse (and Germanic) mythological characters. This week it’s Annar the Other One again. Dwarf ( Dverg / Dvergr / Dwarven). Created by Durinn, he is a maker of sword parts. Though his name also means ‘another’ he’s considered a different person from the Earth Giant ‘Anarr, the Father’, One of Thors Grand Dads. Who’s name also means ‘another’ or ‘other one’.
In this case Annar the dwarf is the Other Other one.
She is my queen, everthing I need to live
Happy ThorsDay - Annar the Father
Well here we are another Thor’s Day and another 20 min sketch of a Norse (and Germanic) mythological characters. This week it’s Annar the Father, Earth Giant. Giant of Earth Works and Creations. (Also known as... Onarr, Annaver, Annarr, Anar, Anaar, Onar). Father of the Earth Giantess Jord with Nott (night). Jord is Thor's biological Mother, and is also Mother to Thor’s Adoptive Mother Frigg/Frigga. Which makes him one of Thor's Grandparents and Great Grandparents at the same time. He’s notably Nott’s second husband by the way.
Though his name also means ‘another’ he’s considered a different person from the Dwarf ‘Anarr, the Other One’, or in this case the Other Other one, who was created by Durinn and is a maker of sword parts.
Ohne meine Schminke

zieh ich mich zurück
denn eins sollt ihr wissen
Ein Clown ohne Schminke ist bestimmt nicht hässlich.
Nur ein wenig trauriger, unglaublich zerbrechlich
