Things to remember when commenting about a series or a character (especially regarding characters and series you do not like).
Your opinion of the series is not indicative of quality or popularity. Feel free to dislike anything and you should never feel forced to continue engaging with something you don't like, but don't then act appalled if the series has adaptations, spin-offs, and sequels.
Just because you didn't understand something about a character or the plot, does not automatically mean it was badly written or badly developed.
The writer shouldn't have to spoon feed every detail for you and they shouldn't be expected to write down to people. Pay attention to what you read, use basic reading comprehension, and learn to make inferences based on the context.
It's really annoying when people make a review or comment about how something in the series is annoying or badly written because of ______, when ________ was discussed and/or explained in the series. It's especially annoying when it's not subtle or it's explained multiple times. It's infuriating when fans then try to explain it you and point out where it was explained in the media, but they are ignored or talked down to. It just shows you aren't paying attention and you don't actually care about what you're consuming...so why are you commenting on it like you're an authority?
Basically, I wish we could cut down on the amount of bad-faith reviews and comments out there. When I see stuff like this, I just have to realize that it's bad-faith and instead of arguing with them, I just need to stop engaging with the content/comment.
People are always going to hate watch/read and make content about it, so let's continue to create positive content and make good faith analyses and critiques in order to drown out the negative.
