luke wouldn't have changed his mind about saving his father from the dark side even if he heard what anakin did in the jedi temple during order66, because he literally knows about it. that's the first thing obi-wan tells him about darth vader, is it not? that darth vader helped the empire hunt down and destroy the jedi order
darth vader tortured leia and stood by while alderaan was destroyed, he shot luke's friends over the death star, he used han, leia, and chewie as bait for luke to try to kidnap him, he cut off luke's hand, ect. luke spent several years fighting for the rebellion, so he's heard all the horror stories about darth vader, about all the people he killed or who the empire caused incredible pain to
luke is not an idiot and he is not ignorant. he knows about all the bad things his father did, and he wants to help him anyway. because he can feel him in the force and knows that there is good left in anakin, because he feels the desperation and fear with which his father tries to reach him in the force, because luke understands who vader is to the emperor and why he unquestioningly follows all his orders — luke's mentors told him that his hero's journey wouldn't be complete until he slew the dragon, but luke saw that the dragon was a pathetic, broken, chained man with goodness still alive in him, so he decided to save the dragon instead
the light and dark sides of the force exist in-universe as real concepts with their own rules, but they're also just allegories for the vague concepts of good and evil in your beliefs, words and actions. remember that star wars doesn't tell a story about good people and evil people, it tells a story about people who can choose good or evil. if you think about it, both the jedi and the sith didn't believe in the possibility of returning from the dark side, essentially denying the very concept of redemption, and both were proven wrong
anakin is the perfect character to be redeemed in this specific story because once he was a genuinely good person, who started out on the path of evil for reasons that would be understandable to any human being in this world (fear of loss/change), and stayed there because of the very false belief that the jedi and sith convinced him in, and which this story criticizes ('it's too late for me, son') — luke skywalker knows all of his father's sins, but loves and believes in him despite them, and the narrative rewards him for it
the reason why the narrative rewards luke skywalker for his faith in his father is because george lucas is trying to convey to the audience the idea that it is never too late to choose good, that redemption is unconditional and available to anyone at any time, that redemption is rewarding — darth vader fits this story perfectly because he is so 'twisted and evil', not in spite of it. at no point does this story turn away from the evil darth vader committed, but it says that he still can change for the better, and so he does
it's such a clear simple story that it still amazes me how people can fail to understand it
hans but i gave him a beard for literally no reason
whenever cas is sad and alone i take so much damage i really can’t stand watching my guy be sad like that…… it reminds me of when ben wyatt was depressed and eating soup alone on a bench in parks and rec
First drawing for this blog in 2026!!

the show Interview with the Vampire is wildly different from its source book, and it is - to my humble, biased opinion - one of the best shows ever made (flaws and all).
so while i am also nervous about the new season, i don't really understand the contempt - especially from people who loved s1 and 2 - bubbling up about the show diverging from the book The Vampire Lestat, based solely on the fact that it diverges.
adaptation as a process reveals a lot about our perspectives, biases, and influences. there is definitely such a thing as a bad adaptation. doubtless i'll be disappointed about some things that get left on the cutting room floor. doubtless i'll have critiques - maybe even serious, deal-breaking critiques - about how the show handles issues of race, gender, sexuality, abuse, etc.
but it is very strange to me to see derision being directed towards the writers for "not understanding the book" (especially after just one episode!). like maybe they do, maybe they don't, but the fact that the show is not a 1:1 reproduction of the book - or even that it may explore very different themes and character arcs, like they did with Interview with the Vampire - won't be the reason it fails for me, if fail it does. ymmv.
it's the same creative team as before (for better and for worse). it's always possible that they'll still drop the ball, but i doubt their talent and insight - and reading comprehension - just completely up and flew away.
regardless if will and mack end up going to worlds this year, i do find it a bit funny that everyone thinks bc line will play together as if will would actually be a center. i can see him as a first or second line wing depending on who else is invited, but will is nawwwt gonna be playing center over all the other options let’s be real. nothing wrong with that either, he played wing last year and was fine with it
i’d love to see connor and mack on a line together though. they’d probably be one of the most unstoppable duos behind mcbrini, good luck everyone else. them playing with schaefer would be cool and sennecke/zelly if the ducks get eliminated early
huge yes to celebedsy. mack centers that line all day every day imo since bedard is uh. not a defensive king. like imagine mack's zone entries + connor's shot… theyd make some beautiful hockey babies (sorry will but it's true).
yeah will started out top 6 last year after a signif worse season so stands to reason he'd be top 6 again this year. some argued favoritism since 2025 usa men's head coach was a sharks coach, but given it was warso…
now idk much about this year’s head coach (don granato) other than he's supposed to be a vibes guy. maybe he will read the delightful vibes of the bc line and run them together for at least a praccy or two so we get some crumbs?? 100% agree will individually is not getting picked for center and idgaf about him playing wing but. like. i really am not overhyping the bc line chemmy when i say they were electric to watch. personally EYE think their 2023 u18s performance is enough of a reason to at least give them one (1) shot pls donny it's all i want for my birthday just let me dream
this would also be so peak for webweaving bc imagine the tension... mack hears about the bc line reunion from someone else (eiserman?) and has zero chill about it. meanwhile will is sick of canada finding ultra-talented connors to replace will put on mack's line and is being his coolly distant petty self. keeps telling mack how great it is to play with the boys again. mack KNOWS will isn't saying this bc of leno and gabe, not when mack is so much better at hockey than them. that's not arrogance that's just fact. so then is it. like. does will miss playing center??? fuck what if will asks to be taken off mack's line next season so he can try 2C again—
and then will gets his first hatty since college. with the fucking bc line feeding him the assist on every single one. and mack promptly goes on a generational fucking crashout.
