This is Roy. Roy is a proud member of ComicsGate who spends a lot of time defending the group and claiming it is not a hate group and that it’s opposition is as bad if not worse.

This man has accused me of being a pedophile and failed to provide evidence of this claim beyond the fact I run a blog called Hell Yeah Teen Superheroes. Because apparently not having Batman or Tony Stark as your favorite makes you a pedophile in his book. But that’s a footnote really, I get that one from everyone who ever ran out of arguments against me on twitter.

However, Roy has also accused me of wishing ComicGate members cancer. He failed to prove this claim aside of posting a screenshot from which he removed everything but text, making it possible to be from anyone anywhere, and a link to wayback machine list of all my posts talking about CG that still lacking any proof of his claim. Supposedly one of my followers wished CG members cancer once, I probably didn’t notice at the time... but I no longer care. Not after seeing Roy, who was so indignant and outraged when acussing me of this celebrating the news of Tess Flower having cancer, saying “Karma caught up to” her and wishing the same on Mark Waid.

And this isn’t an isolated case, here is one of most prominent figures in ComicGate, Ethan Van Sciver, also celebrating that Tess Flower has cancer.

So from now on anyone who wants to tell me ComicGate is not a hate group will have to defend this behavior. And anyone trying to dig up dirt on me or any of wonderful people I run this blog with will have to stare at this tweet. This includes you, Roy, since you revealed yourself as a creepy stalker going through other people’s blog to find anything to discredit them. So when next time you’ll try this here, you will have to scroll through the evidence of what a, by your own standard, piece of shit you truly are.

If you're wondering why the reactionary manbabies are mad at the so-called "political" cartoons, keep this mind: As well as having a super-diverse range of characters, She-Ra (2018), MOTU: Revelations, ThunderCats Roar and Rise Of The TMNT were all made by multi-cultural teams of women, BIPOCs and LGTBQ+ people.

Let that sink in. These hateful turds are so scared, so distressed at owning SLIGHTLY LESS of the planet; that they go after diverse reboots and their production teams, all because they-entitled cis-het white guys-are no longer "the only voice that matters". They are no longer the centre of the universe, and that terrifies them It was never about "wanting quality animation back", it was always about bigoted gatekeeping. Regardless how you feel about all these cartoons, we MUST oppose this hatred in animation and nerd culture. We MUST empower marginalized voices. We MUST be better.

While the video is mostly from video game perspective, it is making good point about how a lot of the outrage at “younger generation” comes from people who cannot stand that things that were important to them are no longer relevant and slide out of public conciousness by a passage of time, a mentality I would argue is both behind various editors and creators who go out of their way to supress growth in popularity of legacy heroes and new characters, while pushing the heroes of their childhood as well as the toxic online groups like Comcisgate that bash on everyone who doesn’t hold the same adoration for comics from the 90′s and attacks all new characters with hateful passion.

Points Jim raises about spoiler culture strangling the criticism are also worth adressing as I had similiar feelings about the way most comic book reviews that, out of fear of spilers, never really dig deep into the meat of the story, resorting to statements so vague, they’re ueseless. My own experiences being trapped between desire to analyze an issue properly and not spoiling it are why I don’t do reviews on this blog anymore.

Renegade Cut did a great video that talks about how there is a lot of privilege and reactionary defense of the status quo that favors them behind backlash against less sexualization in video games. I’m posting this because it also perfectly mirrors the behavior of comicsgate and other opponents of diversity in the comic book industry. Some of “arguments” he debunks are also used very often by those scumbags.

You know, we have all the arguments about whenever or not X-Men can be a metaphor for minorities or if it does it well, but in the middle of these arguments we should remember that not a single one of us has as bad take as fucking Ethan Van Sciver, who is right now claiming that X-Men is about being “genetically superior” and simply “born unique and special”. He is one step from saying “master race”. About X-Men, a book made by two Jewish guys.
