Hey barchies so I know that we are all down bad today but I’ve been theorizing and wondering so I wanted to get your opinions on this too. I am thinking that V*rchie will be bones by the end of next episode. I know that sounds like a stretch but I really do believe it. Think about it. In 5x10 we are getting barchie alone again. I can’t see any explanation as to why V*rchie would still be together while Betty and Archie are alone together.
To further explain why I think this is because I am seeing next episode going like this. Archie and Veronica are gonna have their moments here and there next ep. But then I think that they are gonna realize that it’s not the same as it was in high school and that they are different people. I also think that Archie is gonna realize that the reason he was having “feelings” for Veronica was because he was scared of his true feelings for Betty. He was scared and things were changing with Betty fast so he wanted to go back to something familiar, his relationship with Veronica. So, I believe that by the end of 5x09, Veronica and Archie are going to, once and for all, realize that they are better as friends and always were.
Then in 5x10, (I don’t have any information on the plot so I am guessing a little bit) Betty and Archie are gonna work together to either help find Polly or something to do with the TBK. Archie’s gonna tell Betty that Veronica and him aren’t together anymore and I feel like there will be some tension. He isn’t gonna tell her why either. The tension is gonna build up to a climax and then at some point in the ep, Archie is gonna realize that he does, in fact, want to be with Betty. At the end of the ep, Archie is gonna go and try to confess to Betty that he has feelings for her and wants to be with her. Something is gonna stop them from being together. I have a few ideas as to what that could be:
1. Betty doesn’t trust Archie’s feelings for her and thinks he might not be 100% sure that he wants her and no one else.
2. Betty tries to tell him again that she doesn’t want to let her darkness overtake him and wants to protect him.
3. Betty says that they shouldn’t be together, right now, because she needs him more as a friend.
OR
4. Before Archie has the chance to confess his feelings, he sees Betty with someone else. Either Glen, Jughead, or another guy.
Anyways barchies, I know it’s been rough and we are all kind of broken but remember what happens in 5x10 and the pic Evan posted saying not to lose hope. Also let me know your theories and what you thought about mine in the comments. Stay strong and don’t lose hope!

Jughead trusting Veronica is what I want in season 4, too, if Riverdale insists on keeping dry B/ghead together by force. Teens need to develop and flourish and not get themselves stuck in a relationship that does nothing for each other's personal growth. Also, Veronica is treated SO badly by most of the fandom meanwhile Betty always gets a free pass. Did Veronica ever chloroform her mom and handcuff her to a bed full of come in a bunker? No, bye.

it’d be one thing if b/ghead was a pairing that helped both characters develop or reveal interesting facets of their personality, but it’s the exact opposite. i’ve never met two individuals be more boring with each other, but far more compelling when they’re separate. they never find the right balance, half the time they act like strangers and then, once in a blue moon, they’ll make out moodily while there’s a fire in the background lol. there’s this huge disconnect from what this pairing is meant to be and what is actually showed on screen. so yeah, b/ghead is keeping both these characters back.
as for betty getting free passes, ultimately it’s all in her disservice, because her supposed darkness is now merely used as a gimmick and a way to highlight her “purity”. she’s constantly framed in terms of “the death and the maiden”, a young girl hunted by darkness because her goodness is so alluring (eyeroll). her questionable actions are never really addressed because the blame is always shifted on smb else (her dad, her mom, veronica, the lodges, her brother etc.). the riverdale universe has become so ridiculous with every person being a serial killer/rapist/drug lord that betty’s “mistakes” don’t really count anymore, do they? ironically, in RAS’ world, betty has no real agency and therefore cannot take responsibility for her actions. she is a doe-eyed, brave “maiden” fighting the demons who crave her pure spirit (eyeroll again). it’s like a halsey song gone bad. veronica, on the other hand, is the treacherous femme fatale (hell, in the noir film episode they had no qualms portraying her as exactly that, complete with costume) who we can never really trust, even though she tries her best. she’s more sexualized and she has more sex, therefore her goodness must be questioned. ironically, veronica has actually done far fewer questionable things and is more well-adjusted than betty, but that’s the thing. RAS seems to like this “damaged maiden” trope i’ve mentioned above and he can only find it in betty (and marginally in cheryl), so even though betty pulls a lot worse stunts, it’s veronica who gets the end of the stick for not being vulnerable and doe-eyed, i guess. like, it’s fine for a young woman to do some fucked up shit as long as she looks innocent and tortured. instead of letting betty tap into some rly uncomfortable places regarding addiction and self-image, RAS is content with having his cake and eating it too. and this is why b/ghead is written this poorly too. RAS wanted romeo and juliet (which they actually reference ughhhh) but without any of the actual emotional ramifications. he wanted comfortable angst, if you will. betty and jughead have absolutely no obstacles standing in their path (the whole “i’m in a gang” complication gets resolved without any real hitches), they have a pretty bland, run-of-the-mill friendship, they don’t really challenge each other but rather confirm each other’s narrow views, and they don’t even seem to be drawn to each other. even when they’re solving crimes or having sex or exchanging beanies (eye roll) they scream “platonic friends who are experimenting just because someone thought this was a good idea”. it’s forced and underwhelming but with a little artificial frisson of nonexistent angst because that’s what RAS wants out of betty; a comfortably “damaged” and innocent heroine, someone whose darkness is only there for show.

The disinterest I have towards Bughead sleuthing right now is ASTOUNDING.
I SWEAR IF THEY TRY TO HAVE BETTY JOIN THE SERPENTS OR TRY TO HAVE HER HANG AROUND THEM CONSTANTLY THEN I WILL FLY TO VANCOUVER AND TEAR SOME SHIT UP!!! KEEP HER AND ALL HER NORTHSIDE DRAMA ON THE NORTHSIDE!!! ITS BAD ENOUGH THEY DISRESPECTED JUGHEAD SEXUALITY BUT DONT DISRESPECT OUR SERPENTS!
