buckbuckbuck replied to your post “I wanna ask, in your opinion, why age of ultron was so bad?”
whedon doesn't like bucky and thought he shd have died at the end of tws. like i'm glad seb wasn't in that movie cause i dunno how invested i would be in marvel if they killed off bucky.
Yeah I do know that. I personally think he said that because he was bitter that Cap2 was so popular and lauded by both audiences and critics.
While I highly doubt Marvel would have let Whedont kill off Bucky, as even as small as his roles have been he’s an integral part of the Cap movies and they already had plans in the making for Cap3, I wouldn’t have wanted Bucky in the movie simply because Whedont has no respect for the characters and no grasp on who they are as individuals. I mean he didn’t get a single one of the Avengers characterizations right. Clint Barton the family man with a farm?? Lol ok no. That man is the personification of a train wreck. Thor was once again treated as the all brawn no brain character and completely lacked all emotion that I would have expected to see from him after TDW. As contentious as his relationship with Loki is he does love him very much and Loki’s “death” in TDW was a very emotional moment. I cried even though I had already totally called the ending. He also vastly underutilized Rhodey and Sam. And Pietro’s death was done simply for the shock factor.
Whedont can’t can’t even write the characters he “favors” all that well, let alone the ones he doesnt. So I’m glad he never got his hands on Bucky.
What I more meant was that there wasnt a concrete reference to Bucky at all in the movie. The “missing persons case” line could have been a reference to Bucky but I’m more inclined to believe it was actually a reference to Rumlow seeing as Steve didn’t show any emotion in that scene that was indicative of him talking about Bucky, and he definitely would have had an emotional response if they were talking about Bucky. Also Rumlow is exactly who they are hunting at the beginning of Civil War and Steve says in that scene “This is the best lead we’ve had on Rumlow in 6 months. I don’t want to lose him.” So yeah I think he was talking about Rumlow in that scene and not Bucky.
