The Federal Republic of Nepal is home to an extremely diverse population, as Nepal recognizes 142 distinct castes with 120 recognized languages. Because of this, I also thought that it would not be fitting to depict Nepal as a single Hetalian. Instead, I opted for three different hetalians, representing the main known ethnic groups in Nepal.
Pahad Nepal: represents the Khas People of Nepal, the indo-aryan indigenous people of the middle region, the valleys and hills of Nepal. Note that while the majority religion and customs are Indian, they were adopted by these people. While being considered the overall embodiment of the country, she is based on Newari, Chhetri and Bahun people. They make up an estimated 30-39% of the population
Himal Nepal- represents the Tibeto-Burman indigenous people of the Northern Himalayas. Mainly based on the Gurung/ Tamang people. They make up an estimated 35% of Nepal’s population.
Terai Nepal: loosely represents the Madhesi people in the southern plains of Nepal. Around the time period of Mughal rule in the 14th century, a large number of high-caste nobles from India moved up near the Nepal area to seek refuge from religious persecution. She is mainly based on the Indo-Aryan descendants from the Mughal empire, but this area is the most ethnically diverse in Nepal so it's hard to say. They make up an estimated 23-30% of the population.
However, there is a single Hetalian that does represent (NOT portray) the whole of Nepal, and it is Pahad Nepal. Think of it as sort of like aph england’s situation; while he doesn’t embody his brothers such as Scotland and Wales, he had agreed to diplomatically represent them. The pahad region in Nepal embodies approximately 63% of the country, making sense that she would be the main representative.

thoughts on religion?: follows a blend of both hinduism and tibetan buddhism. however, isn’t “devout” to it, since hindusm isnt really strict about a person’s lifestyle. however, does occasionally visit the temples of local kul deutas (nepali tradition where a family lineage worships a specific hindu god/goddess) since she obviously isnt human, she pays respects to a lot of different kul deutas.
I feel like the overall energy of Aanya is based of of Kali Mata because she represents time, and Shakti (feminine energy), which is really captures the “confident” essence of her. not biased or anything because its not like my family’s kul deuta is kali.. ha .. ha ……
outwardly appears somewhat aloof and warm. not in a “im so fucking scared around you so im not going to say anything” but more so a “you’re gonna think im a weirdo if i talk too much so i’ll stay quiet bc its easier to pickpocket you.”
