As you may be able to tell, this sketch animatic took me a rather long time. Trials Of Apollo (really the whole Riordanverse) is honestly a super huge interest of mine and it always has been. Ever since I read the first Percy Jackson book I've been kinda stuck in it- maybe I'll never leave!

Anyway, I am also very interested in the history of Rome. As you can imagine, reading the Commodus section of the Historia Augusta was very fun for me. The fictional portrayal of him in ToA is also interesting in my opinion, especially because Apollo is my favorite character in PJO/HoO/ToA... or really anywhere in the series.

So yeah. I like Copollo a lot. What can I say? The fact that they are not good for each other has compelled me.

This idea for an animatic was actually inspired by a post by @/apollosgiftofprophecy! (https://www.tumblr.com/apollosgiftofprophecy/751466998199926784/apollo-commodus-be-like-they-are-very-veronica?source=share) It seemed like a good idea, so I went for it!

Ahem. Anyways Lit has a smol crush on Apollo. Very tiny little crush which is unnoticed by our Resident maniacs and the ex god.

It starts off pretty much with Lityerses staring into his deep blue eyes. After that it just spirals into trying to see him everyday, then threatening his caretakers to get him better food and living conditions, then actually talking with him. It becomes quite the situationship, after which Lit betrays the Triumvirate and barely escapes with his life and information.

The thing is, Commodus is so in his own world he doesn't notice Lit falling in love. And honestly? He's pretty sure Lit was repulsed by anything romantic.

And no one knows the fact that he escaped because of his love for Apollo. Meg convinces them he wanted king-like treatment because he was a spoilt prince he was given whatever he wanted, and so he left, convinced he would be better treated on the other side.

(But we all know that's not the case.)

The Art of War: I've been DYING to do SOMETHING with Apollo (Favorite Son™) and Ares (Failure Son™) and I have 3 whole scenes in different points of time now!!!

First is when Apollo's young and new on Olympus. He's been shoved onto Ares for the time being because in Ancient Greece, boys were raised by their fathers and girls by their mothers, and when the father was unavailable, it was the eldest brother's job to watch his younger brothers.

Second scene is during/post Ares's kidnapping by the giants! Some Apollo angst, Zeus being the best dad ever (not), and Ares not having a good time.

Third and finally, is a little conversation post-ToA between them :3

I never seen anyone talking about it but in The Dark Prophecy, in the flashback with Commodus death, Apollo mentioned the list of the people Commodus was about to kill the very next day.

On this list there were people like his mistress - Marcia, praetorian prefect Laetus, some nobleman and senators and... Apollo's priests.

And it confuses me because neither Apollo nor Commodus ever talk about it for some reason?????

Why would he want to kill Apollo's priests specifically, like what's the reason???

Or maybe he had priests of all the gods there but Apollo only mentions his own because they are important to him??? (I highly doubt that, Apollo talk about the list in a way it sounds like he told us about everyone who were on it).

Did the priests had actually done something or did Commodus just woke up one day and decided 'hey Imma gonna kill all Apollo's priests, that's gonna make him notice me again for sure!'

I know Commodus was delusional at this point but what exactly he thought was gonna happen??? That Apollo would come to him and give him a pat on the back for murdering his priests????

Bro did you not read the fucking Iliad? You know what happens when somebody touches Apollo's priests???

I kinda wish Apollo had brought that up at some point during their arguments in TDP or TTT
