I'm not one to share photos of myself on A Quarrel of Feasts. We've been in lockdown, furiously thinking and trying to re-create ourselves with what makes us happy. ☆ The Universe is starting to catch on, but delving back into my writing & food photography, thanks to many teachers, esp. @foodtographyschool and @thebiteshot, have got me on the road to somewhere. ☆ I'm 45 today (this photo was at 43/44😉). I'm happy to be home with my love @jackdarko74 / @john_le_turk, though times are hard financially when trying to keep at one's dreams. I wouldn't trade it for the world. ☆ The point of this post is to say, 45 can teach a lot to others too. Have faith in yourself, don't get too lost in social media even when you're trying to make it your job😂, and take it from a 1990's teenager/twenty something...cherish the moments that real life provide you. Some days you don't need to learn, just live. Sometimes you just need the sound of leaves rustling (hello fall), or a phone call with someone you love, or a real paper book (don't stop reading!). Just my two cents from middle age. Don't lose the other side to life, the one that breathes. ☆ Oh, and enjoy your humble Mimi of A Quarrel of Feasts on her 17th bday (I still loved cake, and miss my eyebrows😑) ☆ I look forward to seeing more from everyone and being more a part of it as I learn and keep going. I'm so excited to have re-tested, re-edited, and re-photographed my Berry Guinness Cake from last February. 🍫 Also so happy that this is my Birthday cake tomorrow. I re-worked the recipe (it was gigantic; this one makes three 8-inch cakes). 🍫 This is foolproof: rich, moist Guinness Chocolate Cake, made extra special by "blooming" the cocoa in the Guinness stout. In between the chocolate-y layers is a thin spread of berry preserves (stuck to raspberry this time, but my homemade raspberry & blackberry jam in the recipe is SO GOOD).
