just posting this bc as tired as I am fucking talking about this and continuously seeing people refuse to understand the perspective of POC on meljay, i still want to share it.

because it’s important to me that this interracial couple (that isn’t just POC x white for once) actually exists and has so much to it, with two characters who are mischaracterized to hell and back and are so overhated (especially regarding their relationship/dynamic with a white character)

this has honestly been the most exhausting hyperfixation i’ve ever had. the misogyny and racism surrounding them is just so blatant — even trying to curate my fandom experience barely works bc people will infiltrate mel/meljay fan spaces to express their distaste for them

i genuinely cannot wait for when my brain lets go of Arcane and i can laugh off how fucking intolerable this fandom was

I've been in multiple fandoms over the years and never EVER in my life I've seen people have such visceral reactions towards a character like Caitlyn Kirammam.

There are mulpitle characters with way WAY more questionable actions than hers and I barely see anything of them...like people may don't like them but it's never in such an insane degree...

People bringing up real life tragedies when talking about her is so triggering :( both my grandparents are Syrian refugees and to see people talking abt genocide so casually it's just so insane.

Sorry but hating a fictional character it's not the activism you think it is... like fuck off you live in Ohio you know nothing about opression, let people enjoy stuff in peace.

Honestly if any person in general has twitter I automatically don’t respect them because why are you indulging in and supporting an app made by Elon musk. But the arcane fandom on there is insane. They sit their asses down on an app made by Elon fucking musk, and turn something as small and un important as fandom into a war zone. They accuse entire groups of people of being homophobic, racist, ableist, misogynistic, over something as small as which character they prefer. Meanwhile they on an app of a man who is all of those things, who has ties to the man who is actively deporting people and stripping away their rights? Don’t even get me started on when they pay for the blue check mark or make entire community’s, you are actively giving money to a horrible man and causing people of being things that a man you are paying is actually doing? People take something as small and un important as fandom and turn it into a morality game, pretending activism to say Caitvi fans are all cop loving hitler supporters while the actual world is falling apart at the hands of people who are actually those things!? The arcane fandom has the worst case of proformitive activism I have ever seen.

Sorry but as an ex-Christian and a JayVik fan I still find it absolutely hilarious how like one person accidentally mistook a Mary and Jesus art for a JayVik art and the quotes were full of people who don’t even watch Arcane calling JayVik shippers as a whole “misogynists” and “male-centered”. All around whining that those darn fujos had to ruin the wholesome feminist holy Mother’s Day art.

I just couldn’t help but giggle bc the Bible in itself is like the most male centered book in history. The religion based around it treats women like incubators. Mary herself is treated like an incubator and not much else.
