Morning - Jegulus - 282 Words
Regulus woke softly in the early morning, eyelids heavy, eyes stinging from the mascara smeared across his eyes.
The dorm was… quiet. He couldn’t hear Barty’s soft snores, or Evan sniffing every five seconds because of his bloody sinus problems.
And there was sunlight streaming across his face.
His head snapped up. Oh. Right.
He fell asleep with James.
Regulus fell back into the pillows and rubbed his eyes again. He glanced over at the next bed, seeing Sirius and Remus intertwined so much he couldn’t really tell where one ended and the other began. Barty and Evan slept like that a lot.
Regulus thought it was rather obnoxious.
Oh. Well he was a hypocrite.
James’ arm was slung around his waist tightly, preventing Regulus from raising up more than a few inches.
Regulus slowly trailed his gaze from James’ arm to his face and that was simply unfair. James looked much too beautiful asleep. His lips slightly parted, his lashes against his cheeks, his glasses tossed to the side on the nightstand.
His hand moved of its own accord, trailing up James’ arm, feeling the dip in his collar bone, tracing his jaw, his brows, his cheekbones, his lips…
Regulus could stand to wake up like this every morning.
James’ eyelashes started to flutter, and Regulus immediately dropped his hand, heart shooting up to his throat.
“I–I’m sorry, did I wake you? I didn’t mean–”
James just groaned softly and pulled Regulus closer. “Morning, love.” He mumbled, voice deep from just waking up, and pressed a kiss behind Regulus’ ear.
“Morning…” Regulus’ heart slowly settled back down.
Oh Merlin, he thought, please let me wake up like this every morning.
