Best type of mattress for an arm amputee

Unfortunately my research yielded no result. I'm writing a new Shanks fic and I'm wondering whether the lack of his arm would make it harder for him to sleep?? I mean, I guess it'd only make a difference if he slept on his stump, but I can't help wondering if the surface he's lying on would make a difference... Specifically, would he choose a firmer mattress, since a softer one would be harder to stand from?

If anybody has an idea I'd really like to hear it!

Whump Prompt #192

Whumpee’s bleary eyes slowly blinked open, their head filled with cotton and the sound around them was tinny and far away to their ears. Above them, a network of crisscross beams hovered in and out of focus as their body began to finally fill their awareness.

Trying to sit up, their newly registered body immediately sent back signals that there was something holding nearly every inch of their body down to the harsh flat surface of whatever they were laid on.

“Oh our subject’s finally awake. How do you feel Whumpee?” An unfamiliar voice from above them asked from beyond Whumpee’s periphery.

Distantly opening their mouth, Whumpee’s tongue sat like a jet engine in their mouth, the only sound coming from them being a low groan as a stab of sharp pain cut through most of the concentration they had.

The unfamiliar voice chuckled, sending conflicting messages of charismatic calm and terror as the situation was finally crashing down on Whumpee. 

Whumpee began to squirm, nearly every inch of their body unable to move more than a few millimeters at most. 

“Oh poor, poor Whumpee. You’re not getting out of this anytime soon.”

The charisma wrapped around Whumpee’s mind, the confidence holding their mind for a single moment before the reality crashed back into them like a wave.

They couldn’t-  

They-

“Well now that you’re awake, it’s time to start. After all,” Whumpee’s heart skipped a beat as the sound of chainsaw type device filled the room. “Wo would want to miss the last moments they have of their most precious dominant arm?”

Whumpee’s eyes went wide only a moment before the sounds of their screams began to drown out even the bone-saw Whumper had.

Unconsciousness slammed into them far too long after Whumper started, their own resolve turned against them.

The last thought in Whumpee’s mind before they finally gave was that they hoped Caretaker found them missing and was searching for them. 

That small hope lifted the barest of hopeful smiles on Whumpee’s face, lost to Whumper as Whumpee finally went limp.
