Needed something to do this evening so I tried a Tales of Arcadia / Laika crossover for Spooky Season!
Colonel, how did things go yesterday with Mrs Emma's cunt husband, if that's ok to ask? Are you pleased with what happened?
Pleased doesn’t quite fit it, I fear.

[ID: A screenshot of a tweet by Neil Gaiman: “I asked Marvel TV about me making 1602 last year, but they weren’t interested. Such a pity.”]
This kills me! At a time when adaptations of Neil Gaiman’s work are dominating the media landscape (just right now, both an American Gods and Lucifer show are in full swing, a fantastic live action adaptation of Good Omens dropped last month, and a Sandman series is currently in the works) it seems like the perfect time to give the same treatment to 1602-- Gaiman’s historical reimagining of the Marvel Universe, which features one of the best alternate versions of Matt Murdock. I can’t believe it almost actually happened. Hopefully Marvel TV will realize their mistake, because getting that story adapted would be amazing.
I believe Jim wasn’t the first to be manipulated by Merlin
This is very much inspired by the theory going around the Merlin is controlling Morgana through her armor, and I want to build on that.
In Trollhunters, when Morgana possesses Claire, she seems (while pretty crazy) to blend in with teenagers just fine, hell, she is mischievious and refuses to accept authority like the kids too! When Jim throws a pillow at her, it breaks her evil monolouge and she’s confused. But once she’s chained up, dear lord she reigns havoc. Everything’s floating around and she’s spinning in a chair.
She’s a lot more defensive around adults, I mean, can you blame her? Merlin did cut off her hand.
In show, Morgana’s eyes are green, but in the art from what I think came from the museum, her eyes are blue.
In fact, many things on her from Merlin’s cause are green, her prosthetic hand? Green. The gem on her helmet and armor that is too damn similar to Merlin’s design? Green. Why would she have green when her magic is gold and her eyes are supposed to be blue. Hell, her magic is light and fire based! When she possesses Claire, Claire’s eyes go gold, and even Angor Rot’s magic once gifted to him is a gold color.
Of course, this wouldn’t be an issue, if Merlin’s magic wasn’t green in the first place. That’s HIS color, and we know that if a character is possesed, their eyes turn the color of their possesor’s magic, e.g. Claire when possessed by Morgana, Arrrgh when possesed Kanjigar, Claire again when overtaken by the shadow staff’s magic, the gumm-gumms after being taken over by the Decimaar Blade, even Bular whenever he is still partially alive after being stabbed with Daylight has the signature blue colored eyes.
Merlin is a skilled sorcerer, after all. He may be an asshole, but he’s not stupid and he would know how to hide his influence. He purposefully showed the Trollhunters a fight that seemed far too exagerrated, and from what HE wanted them to see.
We all know Merlin’s fucked up tendencies, hell he doesn’t care about anything other people say, if it’s not his way, then it’s no way.
And Morgana being an independent teenager would completely piss him off.
Morgana had already been magically inclined, so being sent to Merlin to learn the ways of magic, she would have been completely under his power at all times. Manipulated to do what he wanted, and when she didn’t feel like what he was doing was right, he chopped off her left hand (which is significant in the magic world for black magic)
Morgana would have been thoroughly upset, and would have definetly tried to fight him and tell others what he had done, but Merlin didn’t want the imagine he built for himself to be tainted by one of his many victims, so he manipulated everyone around her to believe she was evil (which made her more upset) and attack her personally, starting with getting rid of her beloved ones and the ones who trusted her and wanted to help her (kind of like what he did with Jim)
At some point, I believe after Killahead, Merlin got the helmet on her, and started to twist her directly into becoming the evil witch we see in the show, and purposefully caused the events and influences that “Morgana” did to make everyone believe that he was right.
That’s my view of it anyways, I want to write something for it, kind of a redemption au for Morgan and the storyline we deserve with Merlin’s head on a stick
Merlin is an abusive and manipulative egomaniac and I hope someone whoops his ass
