As someone who enjoys art, learning different ways to put my craft into pieces of art has been one of my favorite things to learn on my path. I decided to make this post, not only to show and explain my latest piece, but also to talk about other methods I have used to put witchery into art.
For my most recent project, I decided I wanted to do a small-medium sized painting for each room of my house. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do at first, but out of the blue, I had the thought to paint a plant and a crystal, the properties of which would match the energy I want each room of my home to have. I just finished the first painting. I wanted to do my bedroom first, so I chose lavender and amethyst to represent calmness and tranquility.
First, I sketched everything out how I wanted it.
Next, I painted the circle of lavender. I used watercolor pencils, so I shaded with the pencils, and then got it wet with a brush. I used rainwater turned to moon water to rinse my brushes. As I was painting, I thought about the lavender and amethyst bringing calmness and tranquility to the room the painting will hang in.
Next, I painted the amethyst crystal, while thinking calm and tranquil thoughts. After I finished painting, I signed my initials and put the year under my signature. And now it's done!
Before I frame and hang it, I plan to cleanse it and say a few words, something along the lines of "may this lavender and amethyst bring peace and tranquility to my life, as well as to the room it hangs in." I can already feel its power. 💜💫
Other methods I have used to witchify my art:
💫make and paint a sigil on the canvas before painting over it
💫use color associations that match my intent (i.e. green for prosperity, red for passion, etc.)
💫rinse my brushes with moon water and/or rain water
💫draw or paint objects that represent my intent
💫burn an herb or incense that matches my intent and cleanse my supplies and the finished piece in the smoke (if you choose to burn herbs, please make sure it's safe to burn them first!) 💫say a little spell or affirmation while hanging the piece
I'm sure these aren't the only ways to do this, but that's just what I've done personally and had success with!
