you know, in spite of everything Bioware and EA have done.
forgetting their own lore. cutting out entire Characters who would definitely have something to say in regards to everything thats happened. crunch. sacking character writers mid development. those same writers and devs having to fight tooth and nail to even give us the game we have in the first place.
I think Dragon age Veilguard is a win.
not for Bioware. but to the writers and devs who did everything they could to make they game as cohesive as they could, rounding off major plot points like the Titans, the Evanuris, The source of the blight and ending the blight. and making grounded, likable characters with decent backstories and character growth.
sure there is a lot of stuff they could have done better or done differently. but a round of applause for capping of a series while your bosses are total pricks and the fandom is a cesspool of in fighting and negativity.
my only regret is not making my Inquisitor my Fem Lavellen and having her be romanced to Solas before committing to 100 hours of game time, seriously, absolute win for the solasmancers. topped off with the analogy of Solas being the Maker and Lavellen his bride.
I expect a ton of deep dives and essays later. there were a ton of nods to Solas being the 'Maker' which I actually enjoyed. of course the myth would have spiralled from actual events.
the reveal with Varric, even though with hindsight is obvious, made me sob and I really enjoyed it. I even remember at the start of the game being pleasantly surprised and confused when he showed up in the bed at the Lighthouse. and when you look back at interactions its obvious. but sometimes you gotta love a good cliché reveal. Varric himself would love the idea I think.
yes a lot of stuff got missed, there were a lot of characters I would have liked to see. but for what it is. I think its a good game.
for me My Better Half is canon, Anders and Fenris and Hawke are in a village in Ferelden Hawke having joined them after Inquisition. After everything is settled in the north my Rook and Harding travel there in part to visit Hardings Mother but also to tell Varrics family what happened. and maybe settle in the same village. also even though Davrin died. I refuse to have Assan die with him, Rook adopts him.
my Rook, my son, will join the pile of Elf children in my horde.
masc voice 1 my beloved. he will have many dwelf children with Lace
