Would you mind elaboration on your thought of J.S. being Lemony impersonating his brother? That thought has never occurred to me.

The whole “J.S. was Lemony impersonating Jacques” theory will get its own theoretical article in due time. We’ll add it to the 256 gajillion theory articles I’ve promised, I guess.

But mostly it’s a process of elimination. If J.S. is somebody significant, there’s not a whole lot of candidates beside Lemony himself. Justice Strauss and Jerome Squalor were clearly patsies the real J.S. used as red herrings, Julio Sham is probably just one of Olaf’s code names and Jacques is dead long before we start hearing about the sugar bowl.

Plus there are strong hits that the mysterious taxi driver from “The Penultimate Peril” is actually Lemony, and other hints that this taxi driver is the actual J.S. Hence, it’s not much of a stretch to think Lemony is J.S. The most sensible way to explain this is that Jacques Snicket WAS supposed to be J.S. but that Lemony had to replace him after his untimely death, exploiting their strong family resemblance to impersonate his brother.

I saw this picture and got super excited by the outfit!! I just had to draw it on 52... I knew he’d look cute.... I’ve been in an art rut and this really helped pull me out of it.
