Spider-Sense in Overdrive
So American comic book fans probably don't know this, but in the English speaking parts of Europe we don't get the US comics at the same time as the US does (unless we happen to live near an actual comic book shop), instead we get the European Collectors editions, which are a compendium of stories from specific characters and teams, there's the mighty world of marvel, Wolverine and Deadpool, Essential X-men, Astonishing Spider-man and so on and so on.
So the result of this is that sometimes when i'm on twitter I happen to come across stories that have yet to happen, thanks to following some of my favorite comic book writers and artists, the fan reactions to these stories can some times make me excited, or terrify me. The stories i hear the most about are those regarding Spider-man, this is because i follow Dan Slott one of the main writers of him, so when he writes something like Spider Island, i get excited, because all i see is praise from the fans saying how fantastic it is and how excellent its all implemented. But then i hear about Amazing Spider-man #700, at the moment I'm on Amazing Spider-man #694 in the collector Editions, so me and every single other English speaking European who collects these comics are about to get to this controversial story, in a way i feel bad about Mr. Slott because he is about to get a fresh wave of undeserved hate (which he might not even realise?) or maybe my fellow euro comic nerds will be drowned out by the american fans?, I don't know, but what i do know is that this upcoming story changes the Spider-man story Radically, changing the 50 year old status quo like nothing else before it, I know that it won't be permanent and i know i might as well strap myself in and enjoy the ride while it lasts, but i have to say i understand some of the reactions to this story, A character doesn't last 50 years because he isn't popular.
So to Mr. Slott i say Good luck, because what you did is about to hit Europe and I don't know how we're going to react (probably with anger) I won't say stop, I'll say make of it what you can while you can, because not many tales have a protagonist be the antagonist at the same time
Right in the childhood...
I'm so torn. I want to read Superior Spider-Man to see what it's like. I hate throwing out judgement before knowing what's happening. But at the same time I really really don't want to read it because THEY KILLED PETER PARKER. OTTO OCTAVIUS IS IN HIS BODY. This isn't right. I don't care about the big reveal at the end of SSM #1. They just shouldn't have done it no matter how temporary. So I'm not gonna buy it. But I don't want to pirate because I like supporting the comics industry. What am I supposed to do? I can't just *not* know what's happening to Spider-Man.
