Psyche derives from Greek mythology, and in the story, she was a mortal woman who was considered extraordinarily beautiful. So beautiful, she was considered the beauty standard whom people began worshipping her over Aphrodite to a degree. Out of jealousy, Aphrodite ordered her son Eros to force Psyche to fall in love with a monster, but instead, Eros falls in love with her. This of course, just did not jive with the mother herself, Aphrodite, so she sent Psyche off to participate in the four impossible trials which she created. These trials involved sorting out a mountain of seeds, gathering golden wool from deadly sheep, fetching water from a life threatening rive, and journeying to the underground to obtain Persephone’s beauty. In the end, Psyche completed the trials, Zeus made her immortal, and her and Eros were reunited.

when i think of this asteroid, i think of what the soul wants. what it craves to achieve and experience. it also reminds me of selflessness.
