Children and adults with DID live with simultaneously active multiple self-states which, unlike the everyday occurrence of multiple self-states that we all experience, are separate from each other. Different fragments of experience are each assigned to a different sense of self with its own way of thinking and behaving and with its own unique memories. DID can be regarded both as an attachment disorder and as a post-traumatic stress occurrence. Much of the way that we think about DID is derived from research into post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Professor Peter Fonagy and others have shown that the most common aetiology for DID is a disorganised attachment followed by abuse at the hands of a caregiver (McQueen et al., Citation2009).
My dearest I want you to know that you will disappoint and that's okay.
You'll disappoint people you'll fall short of expectations you'll fail to meet my needs and theirs and all of it's okay
You will regress, you won't improve in steady paces you will get worse at times, you'll fall back into older yous and all of it's okay
Last night I dreamed of someone that I loved as dearly as I could, as deeply as I dared as long as I could ever fathom and I wish they had understood that there's no way they could not disappoint and it's okay to fail and to fall short of needs and wants
You're no less worthy of my love and adoration you're not a lesser person, you're not a lesser you and I hope that one day you learn just like I hope I learn that doing well's not meant to be conditional to being loved and cared for everly
And I will promise you, my love that I will love you and I'll care for you so long as I can healthily and I will never let myself resent you for falling short of any expectations

i'm still learning to be okay with being ficto. i still feel like i'm missing out on a part of the experience of life when i can't develop typical attachment. i still hate myself for having been put through enough traumatic experiences to develop an attachment disorder. i still feel like some sort of fuckup. i wish i could be satisfied being ficto, but i'll always mourn the loss of meaningful real relationships.
You said my ankles would have started wars. You’re the only one to have ever said such lovely things, you’re the only one to have ever noticed. You have no idea how you healed a deepest hurt, or how you carved a new one when you dropped off so quickly and quietly. Did you ever really mean it? Did you ever really care? Who says such lovely things and then just disappears?
Attachment disorder so bad you just wanna thr0w up. But emetophobia so bad you would rather d!e than have to v0mit too 💀
