Been playing Spiritfarer recently!
Atul's definitely one of my favorites :')
SPIRITFARER MID GAME SPOILERS
GO PLAY THIS GAME AND DONT READ IF YOURE INTERESTED IN THIS CUTE ASS GAME
You can hug the NPCs with some gorgeous animations, what more do you want.
THIS MAKES ME WANT TO CRYYYY
Spiritfarer is one of those games I can’t replay bc this first play through punched my heart so hard that I’m liable to start crying again if I think about it too hard
Bc of that I cant recommend it enough
A G R E E D
Genuinely it's one of the best games I've ever played, no contest. Not only does it have a heart wrenching story, it's beautiful to look at. Look at these character designs!
And Every. Single. One of them. Has unique animation.
There's 15 characters in total, and you can get to know each one. Every one of them has their own story you can see through to completion. Do you know how hard that is to do? It's ABSOLUTELY amazing!
As for the gameplay itself, it's straightforward and simple. I only had to Google a step 1 time because I couldn't find the right material. It's a resource management game with an exploration element to it. And, moreover, the sound design on the ship itself is just so.... Good? It really adds to this sense of melancholic, bittersweet, and beauty.
I find myself replaying it when I can't connect to happier media. When my emotions are in wack, this game takes my by the hand, gives me a cup of hot cocoa, and talks over the bad that's happened. It acknowledges the heartbreak I've suffered. Tells me that, even though it hurts, life will continue and I will heal. Tells me the pain is worth it because life is worth it.
This is a game you can't play through twice
Not because the game stops you but once you reach the end, you can't really bring yourself to go back to your save. Some probably could, but I totally get why you can't. The themes up to that point have been a slow burn and it gets to you man! I actually didn't finish Buck's quest but I can't go back because... It feels like digging up a grave, you know? I'll never touch my first save again.
(Also I have officially decided that Buck is now the new spiritfarer in that world and he takes people through TRPG adventures, changing up what systems he uses for each spirit)
And if I haven't convinced you yet...
You also have a cat named Daffodil who's the other playable character in 2 player mode. You can play as the Cat.
He still calls her "meri patni". Not one bad word or curse even when he is going to die.
Judge who was hearing Atul Subhash case, gave more than 120 dates in 3 Years, that's literally every week, that too in UP, He was a Senior Software Engineer in Bengaluru, it's nothing but Harassment for him.
(this is a woman's perspective) What happened to this man is absolutely heartbreaking. He was utterly failed by a cruel and inefficient judiciary. The way men are targeted and harassed in divorce cases is sickening. And his wife, the judge and her family should be stringently punished for their crimes. Such cases should prompt a look into frivolous accusations and unrealistic maintenance/alimony demands. What it should not do is drive misogynistic ideas about alimony or maintenance being robbery and every woman who divorces being a gold digger. On the basis of the same laws, many people don't even get a divorce after years of battle from unfit partners. It is undoubtedly true that men suffer unimaginably due to false accusations and unreasonable demands.
When he recorded it he had no tears no cry and no junky voice. It sounds so depressing and on the other hand, he had clear, loud and fearless voice as if he has given up totally, having accepted his fate.
No one should endure such suffering. The laws appear to favor girls, but the court should be able to identify false claims. Gender equality should be upheld in every aspect of life.
The guy literally said his own tax money is being used to harass him, The entire system is a set up. How else you want him to defend himself? The only possible choice he had was this.
It's really sad to see the deafening silence by us for a man who having lost everything, had to take his life as the last resort. Serves a stark reminder of the value perceived for a man in today's world.
Just like how we fought for Kolkata Dr. Rape Case, we must come together to raise our voices for Atul sir, as well and ensure that justice be served and that his soul attains moksha. This is not a war against a gender, this is a war against a lying, cheating monster which in this case happens to be the wife, her family and the judge. SHAME ON THE WOMAN for pushing her husband so far as to suicide and SHAME ON THE JUDICIARY for siding with her without proper evidence and SHAME ON INDIA if we fail to bring justice to Atul.
If anyone wants to know about his case: This is the full video.
