It has been a while since I completed a full watercolour. 😊 They always take me much longer to accomplish compared to my quick sketches and designs.

Decided a few weeks ago since I had more time to paint this one. Excited that I managed to finish it.

Did I ever mention that I feed a bird named Sploot?

Well I have now. SO! story time;

As I've posted about before I feed a SHIT TONNE wide variety of wild birds. Mostly meat eaters.

Mainly:

Kookaburras

Butcher Birds (Pied)

Magpies

Currawongs

Jenny/Fairy Wrens

Cuckoo-shrike

And others, including parrots.

This has come in handy as I'm practicing wildlife photography (I am a SEVERE amateur as I can't afford professional classes) Anyhoo, a significant number of the birds I feed are deformed, nothing too serious just some abnormalities most commonly being clubbed/hooked feet.

However, there's this one bird - a Currawong - whose feet aren't visibly deformed but he just can't stand up for long periods of time. He is a bit awkward and so when he needs to lay down - tho he never actually WANTS to - he fights the inevitable and it becomes this dramatic flop, where he wobbles trying to stay balanced then gives out, and his wings spray out either side of him. It's a little sad but also funny because he looks like he's doing a SPLOOT! Hence, his name.

So yeah, long story short, this is him:

I love him so much 😍 in the early days his wings would be fully stretched but now that I'm feeding him he's starting to get the hang of certain branches in ours trees and on the gutter of the roof, so he doesn't have to spread himself thin anymore.
