Autism acceptance month:Tips on how to survive NT madness
So this post is mainly for Autistic people who are excited to share their culture. And when i say "NT" I mean like people who are basically autismphobic... I'm sorry, still getting used to the terms. Anyway people are getting attacked for sharing autism headcanons and facts and art etc..
And its mostly by NT's who don't understand anything. Like if you share a headcanon saying something, they pretend that they'll understand it by claiming that you're being offensive or trying to generalise Autism. Or that "my 1 year old cousins, dogs, neighbours dads, friends, grandmother's, grandson doesn't act like that, therefore this is wrong" Most people with Autism will probably understand it better but you need to keep in mind that Autism is very wide. You can't look at one autistic person and say: "THEY REPRESENT EVERYONE ELSE" There are people who probably like wearing clothes when going to bed at night, because it's comfy and sleeping naked makes you feel weird in certain areas. And there will be people who feel completely sensory killed because of the clothing. Anyway that's one of my points. There's also people who love making friends but don't know how to and people who prefer being alone because human contact is a pain. Anyway, you have 3 options when an NT attacks. You can either Educate them, fight with them or ignore them. 1) It's important that people understand that autism isn't just an insult, 12 year olds use online to insult someone. You need to explain that autism is like the pics art color gradient (that's the only example i have). Maybe they'll understand better and won't be so ignorant.
Fighting with them is kinda stupid but hey, if you wish to just be the PC principal in South Park (no i don't watch it, I've just seen a video clip of it.) Just try and find the things they say and change it into something offensive. But i wouldn't recommend it. You're just wasting your time.... unless you're a loser.
3) Ah the best one. Just ignore them. Some NT's lack knowledge, meaning they're unintelligent. It's hard to explain autism to someone who's stupid.
Btw, if you're an NT (not autistic) don't take offence. i mean this mostly for people who insult autism or assume they understand it when they don't.
