Considering how 'advanced' and 'evolved' this patriarchal, decaying system is in which we live, you would THINK, there would be a drug that does not make us numb to our emotions or kill our libidos, but does makes PMDD, autistic meltdowns and shutdowns tolerable or at least less frequent. But no. All we have are SSRIs that can cause permanent loss of sexual desire and response, suicidality and suicide if you're on the wrong one (and realise pretty darn quickly and bully your doctor into changing it. Real story, me and Sertraline do not get on) or antipsychotics which have an array of side effects I'm too exhausted to mention. And yes, I know that being autistic isn't really something you can medicalise or medicate and you shouldn't if you can avoid it. But my God, an autistic meltdown, especially the severe ones are so terrifying, painful, embarrassing, and soul-destroying that they make you afraid to live. There are days where I can be unashamed of my autistic brain but today isn't that day. Anyone who thinks people want this, those that truly understand, know we don't. We're at the mercy of strangers implementing legal rights and a whole bunch of compassion that frankly we're all starving for, neurodivergent and neurotypical alike.
