Hi, I’m a late diagnosed autistic. I wasn’t diagnosed with a level/support needs level, but I’ll say level 1/LSN because I can do a lot independently.

Just here to write my thoughts somewhere and learn from other autistic people. Hopefully, I’ll make some friends along the way 🤗

I often take my earphones out because I’m done listening to music and I want nothing, but then I hear all the reasons why I put my earphones in to begin with.

Some autistics say they felt very different from others growing up, like they were an alien among others.

I thought I was like everyone else, and that everyone else was like me. I was just much worse at handling being human than they were.

anyone else stay home for a while and be like "hmmmm been acting fine lately. maybe i'm not autistic." and then you have one (1) social interaction and you're like ah. the Autism strikes again.

I’ve been having really shit executive dysfunction and I struggle with noise when my family come home, so I’m never like “maybe I’m fine.” But going out and having social interactions really does make me think “hmmm maybe I’m autistic” (even I know for sure that I am lol!) It’s a very strong reminder, it’s like I’m realising all over again.

It's not your fault. You won't be stuck forever. I know you're trying. I know you hate it. It's ok.

And tell the Mean Voice in your head that it's not helping. It knows as well as you do that you would get up and Just Start the task if you could. You're not doing this on purpose.

Take a deep breath. Relax your jaw. I see you trying so hard to break out of it, but you can't force it. You'll get Unstuck eventually. All you can do in the interim is be kind to yourself.

Autistic question, do you ever eat something more for the texture? Like tge taste has to be at least neutral but it's the texture that keeps you coming back to the food more often than not? A lot of my favorite foods are like that. I used to fold tortillas and eat them like that as a kid because the texture when biting through the layers of tortilla was fun to kid me

It is very inconvenient that sometimes my body announces it is hungry by sweating and wanting to throw up.

Struggles of audhd: your body doenst tell you that you need to pee (or any other bodily functions like eat) so then you don't pee all day and then you're doing stuff and then you sneeze.

If it's not clear I peed myself. I was gonna put this in the tags but let's actually talk about it cuz a lot of people don't talk about the lack of interoception part of ADHD and autism.

symptoms of interoception: weird responses to pain or other stimuli, stress, or emotions, difficulty recognising and reporting symptoms of illness, incontinence and constipation, bad at registering hunger levels.

I don't pee unless I'm desperate. I don't eat unless I'm starving. I don't drink water like, ever. I don't realise I'm stressed until I'm having a shutdown, I'm super bad at registering that I'm cold, partly due to nerve damage but mostly due to this. I don't realise I'm cold till I put my hand on my stomach and it's literally freezing. I was about to say I don't have any problems recognising heat or pain but then I realized my signature thing is 'heatproof hands' with which I pick up bread right out of the oven and tubs full of boiling water. So I guess that's not true.

Made an autism creature for us autistics that have resting bitch faces or a tone of voice that sounds grumpy and other people often assume you’re mad. I call it the “Im Fine” creature

Would you understand what I mean if I said that if my gender was in terms of percentages and woman was at 0%, then man is somehow even less than 0, like -50%? Like I don't relate to either but somehow even less for man

I'm cisgender, and this makes sense to me. I feel about 40% female but 0% male. The rest is just existing.

I think I'm about 0% female, -20% male and hm... 10% androgynous? And the rest is just existing. On the other hand based on vibes I'm 40% feminine, 50% masculine, and 10% void.

This is what’s making me think I’m a demiwoman. Not 100% woman but 0% man. I’m like “sure I’m a woman, whatever”.
