Genuine Question

Where was all this vitriol about a show being "pro-abuse" when Hazbin Hotel Season 2 came out? Where was the complaint that a show hates this specific group of people so much that other characters can treat them any shocking, unusually cruel way the writers can think of with no consequences, this specific group of people hated so much that they were blatantly denied an arc especially in comparison to how other were treated, when Hazbin Hotel Season 2 came out? Where was the complaining that the show had a bad message for suicidal people and told them to just give up when that didn't just entail the character dying, but primarily entailed the suicidal character being forced to "accept" a dehumanizing imprisonment as the emotional support animal to the woman that tried to kill your entire family, destroy your home and still hates the very thing that you are. And also the suicidalness is played as a joke because the narrative takes your personhood so unseriously that it genuinely doesn't matter that this nightmare is making you suicidal (even though EVERYONE in this situation IRL has had at least some suicide ideation at one point).

I could go on but.

I don't think these things really happened, at least not the way people are saying, in TADC but they definitely happened to Sir Pentious

Autistic people often have chemical sensitivities, and it’s possible that this pesticide is disabling some autistic people, but it’s not exactly likely that it’s turning some formerly-allistic people.

It doesn’t help that I’ve encountered similar narratives about certain vaccines, which didn’t when my dad was a kid, and about milk, which I was allergic to when I was a kid.

Look, I know that CEOs are demons and it's tempting to hate on them any way you can, but criticizing someone for "not acting like a person" just perpetuates autistiphobic bigotry. It's wrong in the same way that mocking Chris Christie for being fat is wrong; it attacks an already very marginalized group and distracts from the ACTUAL evils of the person you're trying to attack. Worse, it associates that marginalized group with the evils of the person you're trying to attack. In the early 20th century, antisemites associated the evils of capitalism with Jews. We can't let the same thing happen to autistic people with big tech.

Saying that Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, or anyone else "act like robots" is not okay. Their mannerisms are not a sin, but their corporate actions are. It is enough to call them out on their greed alone.

I'm not sure that my response was ideal, I may have been ableist myself:

If you don't think it's morally right to talk about about 'curing' autism, then shut the frack up. There is a moral imperative to cure any and all disabilities. Along the way, we might cure some ignorance on the subject. For those who are not higher functioning, autism is trauma; it is physical, emotional and spiritual suffocation. People like Chew who want the disabled autistic to be ignored and disappeared should be exposed for the cold heart, selfish they are. They are out to sacrifice children like my own who suffer deeply, for their own who do not. This is an abomination. I will see their kids disappeared from the autism spectrum before she disappears mine. Bring on the DSM-5.

Prejudice turns healthy variation into disability. And then you use the disability to justify the prejudice that creates the disability.

Do you think there is a moral imperative to 'cure' homosexuality and 'cure' transsexuality in a way that prevents transition? [they tried lobotomies, but those didn't work]

Because of the prejudice against lesbian, gay, bi, and trans folks, these became social disabilities.

Because most tools are made for right-handed people, it can become another disability.
