lately i've been finding a lot of comfort in the avatar movies directed by james cameron. idk what it is about the na'vi, but they are extremely relatable to me as an autistic person. that isn't to take away from the message of the movies (imperialism, environmental destruction, anti-colonialism, indigenous oppression, etc) but there's just something about how they communicate that i find really comforting. the way their tails flick and ears flatten when they're upset. how they hiss when they're challenged as an expression of dominance or to tell someone to back off. their big, expressive eyes. the way they say exactly as they think and don’t filter out their words bc it sounds better for the other person. idk. the series just means a lot to me, because lately i've felt i'd be better off as an alien than a human with how different i am
