Xavier is a sad middle aged gay man

Inktober - Triple Feature

*Posting these together, because all three characters come from the same game*

Inktober 2023 - Prompt 15: Dagger

"Come on, just admit it. You won’t walk out of this alive. Besides, everyone knows that nobody is quicker than this assassin! My daggers are my life partners, and they’re gonna help me in this little battle of ours.”

Prompts 16 and 17: Angel and Demon

"Ah, the angel and the demon. One has complete faith in you and wants you to take her blessing, while the other… well, she just wants you to ‘taste her flames’ and believes she can stop you with everything she’s got.”

For these three prompts, I decided to draw some characters from Gacha World, an anime-style adventure game that I remember being obsessed with back in mid-2020. I recently started playing it again, and I don’t know why, but I feel like I’m more invested in the storyline and characters than I was back then. I suppose that’s just the beauty of getting older; you start appreciating the minor details of each and every little thing.

Aside from that, I just have one question that I’ve asked so many times before for some of these prompts: Could there have been three better characters to use for these prompts? I mean, sure they’re not as well known as other characters, but they’re just so fitting, and I knew I had to use them! For the 15th prompt, “Dagger,” I went with Avenger Reed, a young fighter who became an assassin after the invasion of the kingdom he lived in. Not only are his daggers one of his best weapons, but also, as his quote from Gacha Resort (the sequel to Gacha World) implies, his life partners. I’ll just leave you to try and interpret what on Earth that means. 😅

As for the 16th and 17th prompts, “Angel” and “Demon,” I found two other characters that, like Reed, were very fitting for these prompts. I decided to combine these two in particular, mainly because I thought it was pretty funny to see the two opposites ending up next to each other on the Inktober prompt list. The angel, in this case, is DJ Eve, a young, angel-like being and former test subject who is more than happy to spread her blessings to others.

On the other hand, we have our demon, a feisty demon-like being from the underworld known as Devil Akki. Don’t worry; despite her species’ unfavorable reputation, I can assure you that she wouldn’t hurt or possess a fly.

I did a bit of a redraw of a character from a mobile game that I used to play called Gacha World called Reed (this version is called Avenger Reed though). It’s from quite a while ago and I’ve basically finished it, but it’s still nostalgic and I do love the characters quite a lot, even if the new ‘games’ don’t focus on the original characters anymore.

The old one’s from July 16, 2018; so nearly about two years’ worth of improvement? The first picture is the original, the second is the one with a shadow over the eyes to match the original one more. To be honest, I think my past self did the background daggers better because I think I spent more time on them/used different layers, but I kind of rushed through them because I’m impatient.
