I became acquainted with Rainbow Lattice Sunstone from Australia a few years back when I met the miners who hunt for this rare gem. it has quickly become one of my favorites. For the past three years, I have only purchased special order pieces for our clients. This year however, I decided to purchase a few pieces that we could bring back with us and share throughout the year. This stone is a Feldspar with a very rare combination of mainly Moonstone made up of roughly 75% Orthoclase and 25% Albite. Not only does it display the phenomenon Aderescence (seen in moonstone) and Aventurescens (seen in Sunstone) but The main phenomenon is the Lattice Effect created by Ilmenite inclusions. The piece shown here, actually displays rainbows in person as opposed to just white white being reflected. Unfortunately my camera would not capture the rainbows as well as I would have liked. These pieces are small often, and can be very expensive. They are stunning when into jewelry as well. This piece is available on our Etsy store.
