"We could have been a good thing if we have found each other at a different time."
Those words chased Touya all his time in Tartarus, between visits and screams and tears, accusations, ghosts from the past and something that did not happen.
"Maybe we will still come across each other someday. No heroes or villains between us. Just Touya and Keigo."
It seemed impossible, an idiot's dream. Too much water had passed under that bridge.
Still, when he left Tartarus years later, Fuyumi had opened the car door for him. He was there, right across the street.
They looked at each other: A bird without wings, an ex-convict who would be watched for a long time while living with his sister.
It was strange how it was the freest that they had been their whole life.
Neither Dabi nor Hawks existed anymore.
Maybe that's why he did what he did.
The two crossed the street at the same time.
Some people are right, but the timing is wrong. Synchrony is a difficult thing to find. Letting go of what happened would be even more so.
But maybe they could take a chance and meet halfway.
"My name is Keigo Takami, nice to meet you."
Perhaps that story could still have a good ending.
